So what I did to screw things up was flash the BIOS of my v1.6 with a non v1.6 bios. I used X3 3029 & not X3 3108 v16plus like I should have. Is there any way to fix this?
Thanks guys

Does this sound good to everyone else... turn the switches to off on off off off, start it up to the blue flashBIOS screen, then unplug the switches. then flash it using th x3 3108 v16plus. reconnect switches when the flash is done, set to on on off off off, the...it'll start up to the normal Flash BIOS screen, then flash it right this time?

can I get an amen (or at least someone to second this)

That WOULD be possible if you did not have a 1.6. The 2nd bank has 3.0.3 installed from factory. IF you did not flash over it then 3.0.3 is still there, and will not work for you. (The reason why the older 3.0.1 is even there at all is b/c 303 doesn't work for v1.6, but instead works on v1.6b.)

You will need to use the backup Bios to boot from, then reflash your chip from there.
Simply press the power button, and JUST AFTER you press and start holding it, also hold the Eject button until you see the X3 switch light up purple.
(Instead of just red, or just blue.)

Once it starts and gives you the option to flash, make sure you have the proper bank selected, and flash your heart out.

NOTE: On On Off Off Off= bank1 on stock switch, and Off On Off Off Off= bank2.

Once you have one bank flashed SUCCESSFULLY and you know it, flash the other so you will have TWO working Bioses, and the "useless for you" 3.0.3 won't be wasting a bank.

Hey, thanks a lot for your help, it totally worked. well, it said "programming failed" after I flashed it and didn't turn off on its own but... then when I restarted it with all switches off, it booted with the "Xecuter Rox my Box" and then went to the settings screen. So thanks again for your help.

Sweet, that's what we're here for!

Said Programming Failed ehh? Mine did too, but if you got to the X3CL, then you faired much better than I at that point!

Happy Modding!

Yea thanks. Was it supposed to go to the X3 settings screen? Is it supposed to go there everytime before I get a dashboard setup?

It SHOULD go to the X# Bios screen at LEAST the first time you start it up.
(It can be set to bypass UNLESS you hold down the white button before you power up and hold it until you see the Bios screen.)

I had the problem to where I could NOT get to the X3 Bios screen, and as you had "Programming Failed" as a message when I flashed the chip.

The ONLY way I could get mine to flash properly was pulling the chip up off the pinheader slightly, say 1/16th of an inch.
The other reason you would have a problem getting to X3CL would be that pins 13, 14, and 15 aren't connected properly.
(X3CL depends upon those pins, but of course the X3 itself can function without it.)

The reason I wanted to get X3CL to work? I wanted to be able to make the C drive pretty much clean for XB Live. To say boot from a dashboard on the F drive, u need to get to X3CL.
(That and Bios flashy is FAR less janky when you FTP into X3CL!)

So I would advise trying to re-align the chip.
I noticed on mine that the pin socket did not seat onto the pinheader perfectly, but instead it had a slight gap. So after a few re-alignment tries BANG it works perfect!

I'd give that a shot.
