ok i've been looking through all the posts and hav'nt found an answer so i'm gonna ask. i've downloaded the X3_3029 bios folder which includes other stuff in it. the file i need to put onto the cd along with the dummy file...is it the entire folder, or just the X3_3029 file renamed bios.bin?

You DON'T have to change the name of the bios, and yes all you need is the bios and the dummy file. The dummy file should be 500meg!!

unfortunately, if you plan to flash by CD, you will need to change your bios name to bios.bin as directed by the directions posted by Teamxecuter. Make sure to use the correct bios version for your Xbox version. If you have xbox version 1.0-1.5, you should be using X3 3029.bin. If you have 1.6 or 1.6b xbox, you need to use X3 3029 v16plus.bin.

if you already have a network setup at home, IMHO, it's easier to flash via http method.
