I have LT3 not used for a while dash is old. How do i update dash safely?

Hi,

I have not used my 360 for a while. Many, Dec 2012 i had it flashed to LT3. The dash now will be very old.
I would like to update the dash. I have read it is safest to revert back to stock and then flash back to LT3.
Is there a tutorial how to do this?
The method before to flash to LT3 was to use a CK probe key and extract a key from the motherboard then flash to LT3.
I hope this method has changed and there is a simpler way to flash to LT3? Is there?
If i revert back to stock update to the latest dash then to LT3 I should be safe to go on Xbox live. I don't play multiplayer, just watch trailers and download demos.
