Ok...I know someone who will Flash my box for me...Says he doesnt even have to open the box, therefore the warrenty is still safe...Says he just uses a jack or usb something...uploads some type of program onto the HD that allows you to use backups, play online, get past firmware updates, and again...keep the warrenty...So I ask, is this true, can it be done WITHOUT so much as cracking open the box itself? Or should I not trust this person?

That someone is a moron, you have to open the xbox and theres no program that goes on the HDD. The only thing messed with is the disc drive.

if that was indeed true, don't you think microsoft would REALLY be flipping out, i mean i know they are a bit miffed now, but most people wont do it since it is a bit hard to pull apart the case for the queesy at heart. If all you have to do is run a program through a usb port would be almost the worst thing they could imagine

NO, for the last time, this is not possible. If it were, you think we'd all still be using the firmware hack?

What you are talking about requires a complete hack of the 360 boot process. No hack currently exists.

off topic, How detectable is the firmware hack really> Wouldnt it be easy for them to detect a firmware hack opposed to an HD Program which you can use a root-kit to mask? And unplug the hd when ur done playing on live??

I know you posted this in the 360 section,But the guy isnt talking about the old xbox is he?Using the usb on controller mod ,loading up the hack onto the hard drive.Thats the only hack i know of where you dont have to open the case.

and what is the problem with the guarandy...i've heated mine and carefully put it off...it's like it never opened
