ok here's the thing might need a little more info. how long did you apply the heat and for how long? did you replace both the cpu and gpu?
without knowing more than you have applied heat and replace d the xclamps with bolts all i can say is how i did mine.
once i have both the gpu and cpu removed and cleaned i use 8mm bolts (not 10mm) and just a nylon washer (not a nylon and steel) i find this is far closer to the height of the original clamp. i put the heatsinks back on loosely and flip the board over to apply heat, no AS5 yet. using a cheapo ace heat gun i start on the low setting a use circular motion over the gpu and ram chips for about 2 mins. then jump the heat to high and again heat them all for 2 min. drop it back down to low for yet another 2 min. i quickly tighten down the bolts to a firm hand tight on both heatsinks. and let it cool for 15 to 30 mins. once it's cool i take the heatsinks back off apply AS5 and put them back on. doing this i have never had a problem.
