I managed to seriously cock up getting the keys from the drive before I attempted the kamikaze hack. I was using a phat to power the drive and i forgot the drive was upside down and just shoved the power cable in and turned everything on, instantly I saw fireworks and smoke from the drive (it made me jump)

And the phat console started flashing it's front indicator (no dvd drive connected?) and the drive was gone, with me left with no keys.

I've uploaded a picture of what blew, and I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on where I can go with this?

I'm guessing best case scenario is spare parts?

This is one of those times where a search on why we don't use power from the 360 to power the drive for flashing.

There are probably 2 options.

See if TeaJunkie can work his magic and repair the board so you can get the key. Then get a replacement pcb and fit that into the drive.

or

You will need a replacement PCB and a Nand/Glitch kit for your Slim 360, so you can obtain the key from the motherboard. As this is now possible, you are quite lucky you did not do more damage. especially to the main unit.

You can find TeaJunkie here abouts on the forums, he is a legend at repairing drives.

Your first option, may be the best, because if you hook the nand/glitch to you Mobo to retrive the key, there is a good chance you will be flagged for a ban. So repairing may be best, if you like live.

All need to be done is solder a jumper wire on one side of where the resistor is blown across to the other point or an alternative point.

Surely the blown resistor serves a purpose but still all boards I fixed with a jumper seem to work fine as well.

I do not recommend that you attempt that by your self though ;)

Okay, I'll see what TeaJunkie says when he gets back to me. Cheers!
