are you using firmware tollbox or ixtreme 1.4 hitachi c4eva rev1? the hitachi 47 has got quite a bad rep for playing back up games too, only try verbs, I flashed a couple and neither would play back ups, including verbs so I replaced the drives

I just got my hitachi 47 flashed and it was a pain too. Make sure you're using a compatible sata chipset i used a pci card with the via 6421. A lot of tutorials say you can use a dvd movie, but I could only get it to work with a genuine x360 game. Here's the steps I did:

1. Turn both PC and 360 on at same time and make sure that slax is disc is in pc drive.
2. While slax is booting wait for "Spinning up discs" and eject the 360.
3. I continually kept pushing the drive in and let it pop back out on it's own while slax was booting. This pretty much says it's in mode b. Once you get to the login with the 360 drive ejected press the eject button 3 times and should stay in for good.
4. Remove slax disc from PC and reboot it while leaving the 360 running.
5. When you see the XP (or vista) splash screen eject the 360 drive and leave it open. I found that I could only get it to work with the drive open. When in windows check to see if your 360 drives shows up in disc hierarchy.
6. Flash as usual

If memory serves me correct that's pretty much exactly how I did it. These drives are extremely picky. I had to buy a new dvdrw (pioneer dvr-116d or dvr-116dbk for black) as my old dvdrw would not get a good enough burn. Also you have to use verbatim dvdrw +dl and set the sector break with imgburn.

I hope that helps if you have any questions let me know, as I had a hell of time getting mine to work and tried pretty much everything.

Why does everyone Still use SLAX as jungleflasher is so much easier.

I have a hitachi drive and mine doesnt have a problem reading backups or nothing. I must be one of the lucky ones haha.

sounds to me like you have a problem with a weak laser

I suggest the POT tweak. If that doesn't work, purchase a new laser

Horrible drives!!
My opinion is positive. They r great drivers, without AP25 most important. I have 47 and 59 and all rock my 2 xboxes without any problem.
Anyone who have X with that drive should be very happy.
And I agree, if you want to flash it, use TX tools, it's make life so much easier.
