Hello
I just opened an xbox360 with an BENQ drive to retrieve its lens (The motor is broken but the lens is not)
And saw this: It has a blue lens and that red stuff like seen in this thread:
http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65780&highlight=replace+lens+benq
or more specific:
This picture

Where the last looks awfully lot like mine

The xbox however still had its seal on the front AND on the dvd drive.
And another thing, Is it safe to use one if i had no other way (I have other ways but still, to clear that question.)

Oh and another thing if you read it until here, here are my pictures:

And have a happy new year guys

If you have another drive just put the curicut board from the old one in the new one. Problem solved, much easier then trying to get everything lined up again.

yeah, and also more expensive. (A drive against a lens) And i need to de/resolder it if i remove the board. (I cant replace it without as i dont have an USB Pro v2/USB Pro v1+Ck3i or similar)

Instead of a 'refurbished' lens how about the lens is near the end of its life. They do wear out you know...

Also are you asking a question in your thread or are you just making a statement?

Plus if it is a benq drive then it is more than likely a 2008 model so if the lens is saveable then fair play but I doubt it. Lasers don't cost that much for the trouble you are causing yourself!

Yeah but it is a question; Is it a refurbished one and is it safe to use.

The drive itself was just... ruined. It didnt open. Motor spun with intervals but it could read the game... sort of.
I have an Lite-On drive instead of that which has an broken lens but the rest is working so i removed it from the broken/faulty drive and plan on using it for my lite-on if it is usable

And otherwise i buy a new one.

And the thing was. The drive seal wasnt broken. Xbox seal also was new and well... I have a suspicion it was already tampered with

Try swapping the liteon laser in the benq drive - they are the same.

if the drive isn't ejecting...it is probably just the drive belt so try replacing it. Or drop it in a cup of boiling water, dry and retry.

Well, this is what concerns me. The lens of my lite-on is black (not BLUE) and does not have that red stuff on it.

Do you have a multimeter? Resistance should be above 3ohm. Between 7-4 is perfectly fine.
I do not have a multimeter, Do you know where i can get one cheaply (With kindoff accurate readings)

And if i had one, what points should i have checked then?

You can get a multimeter cheap at Lowes, Home Depot, or RadioShack. Most electronic stores or home repair stores will have them. The cheap ones are good for basic tests. Check this sticky out for what points to test.

Thank you for referring me to that post, would be great if that sticky showed the picture of the lite-on/benq (No problems with that but it would be nicer)
And i found a cheap-ass multimeter
