I strongly recommend an Xecuter product
Flashing the Aladdin Advance 1.6 chip --sucked--
I had all kinds of problems with this chip when this guy showed up at my door and dropped off a Box and this "CHEAP" mod chip that I haven't seen before and with out a FLASHER I might add!
No documents no information nothing. So I started in on the new problem.It took me hours of looking around at all the posts and different sites that sell the chip I found and very little "USEFUL" information. A friend and I tried every thing we could think of to FLASH the chip to my surprise "It came with an M8 loaded on it" and it would only read 137 Gigs of the 160 that I was to install.--I wasn't going to trust the M8 to "take the rest" if you know what I mean. So I really wanted to get a good flash of the M8+16 on it.
We read the bios from the chip using the Bios Backup program from the Slayer install disk, it saved a 1 Meg file which stumped us when we tryed to flash a 1 Meg file nothing happened but failure. So now on to the nitty-gritty!

- Gentoox.ShALLaX.Loader-v5.9 or v5.8
- M8plus_16.bin

- 2 Cat-5 cables

I downloaded from Xbins on the Mirc
-----1) Gentoox.ShALLaX.Loader-v5.9
-----2) M8plus_16.bin -for the new 1.6b XBOX just incase-
I used EVtool to make sure that the bin was a 256k file and changed it so I had "Partition 6 Takes up to 137GB / Partition 7 Takes the Rest" with all the fan speed to 60% =cooler box and I can still tolerate the noise, and colors I like added.
unpacked Gentoox.ShALLaX.Loader-v5.9
using a Router connected to my XBOX and PC
I ran flashFXP and connected to my XBOX
Copy the Gentoox.ShALLaX.Loader-v5.9 to F:/Apps
Copy your 256k M8plus_16.bin to A new folder C:/Bios
now turn off the XBOX and reboot.
once rebooted to Avalaunch for some reason it has to be -- Booted to Avalaunch --
Use the file browser and run the loader.xbe file from Gentoox.ShALLaX.Loader-v5.9 folder.
when it boots up you need to select the icon on the right, it looks like a PC card, -NOT the CD-
this is what worked for me
You should get a menu:
- 1) choose the HDDtools and lock the HDD
- 2) now go to Flash Bios tools and flash from HDD, your M8plus_16.bin or what ever you called it should show up. Select it and press the green button.
once the flash is done Your XBOX will or should reboot.
I had to shut it down and reboot again to get it to start up to the modchip.
PS:
to boot to the MS XBOX dash bard just Bump the power button = Green lite
to boot to the Avalaunch or EvoX dash board just press the power button till you see the lite turn Yellow -suposed to be 1 sec.-

you will have to Boot this way to Flash the chip!

- MY OPINION
I did not like the Aladdin Advance 1.6 mod chip!!
Once installed almost every time I booted to the
chips Bios I had to unplug the XBOX and press the
power button to drain all power fom XBOX, or I
would not get a video on boot.
It was hard to get the chip to boot without going
into FLASH mode.
I had trouble getting it to LOCK the HDD
I never got it to boot to the new MS DASH even
though it showed LOCKED.
Above all I didn't like busting my A$$ trying to
get a good flash.
