Well guys, this was my first shot at flashing firmware for a 360 drive.
So the whole story behind it is that I wanted to flash to play XGD3 backups, I found some tutorial for hitachi drives as a work around to allow me to do so.
So I get some firmware that's going to flash my drive to something or other and I go into jungleflash start to flash but don't have an AV cable plugged in so the console turns off mid-flash.
Now when I turn it on the drive wont eject, my system cant see the drive etc.
Anything I can do?
Luckily I got the key before I messed it up so if I can get a new one that's an option for me, but I'd like to fix this if I can.
Thanks all, and sorry for such a noob first post.

First things first the XGD3 CFW for the Hitachi 79 drive has not been released yet. Second is the drive not able to be found in JF anymore?

next step would be to go and get yourself a CK3I to prevent this ever happening again and while your at it a USB Pro would be very helpfull also.

its fixable, with a lot of skill

you'll have to remove the flash chip, throw it in a programmer, flash it, then solder it back on

have fun!

I'd really rather not spend my time soldering a drive that's worth 20-30 bucks. What's the best drive to pick up? I've heard benq, but I'm not too sure. Thanks for all the replies, looks like I learned the hard way.

The Hitachi firmwares are currently in testing according to c4eva IRC, you should have just played your originals till then, in answer to op there is no workaround other then get a Hitachi 79 or get your current alone repaired..

Unfortunately 79 drives need an unlock CD in order to read/write to the flash, otherwise it may have been possible to revive without removing the TSOP.

What you have done though is good, since we ALWAYS advise NOT to use your console to power the drive you've just shown others why we say this. Shame, as the small cost of a CK device would have saved you sourcing another drive and the inconvenience that comes with it.
