I think messed up with the flashing....

I'm installing the 2.6CE ship into two 1.6a xboxes. I burned the M8plus_16 bios (256k) and ran the flash from disc on both xboes.

The flash apparently went through without any issues, and the xbox turned off after the flash (as it should have). So i turn it back on except now it restarts twice, and on the third time it frags red and green. I tried bank 2 and after about 20 seconds the led remains a constant orange.

The same thing is happening on both xboxs, and I think its because I loaded a 256k bios instead of making it 512 first (I just realised that it was only 256).

Is there any way for me to fix my mistake?

Mistakes:

1. You used a 256k BIOS (you already knew that).
2. You were trying to flash Evox M8+ to bank 1, which would have caused problems.
3. You should be using X2 CL 5035, which is a much better BIOS.

You may be able to boot FlashBIOS 3.0.3 from bank 2. When the eject light stops flashing, press the eject button. Keep doing this and after a while it should boot.

The eject button thing doesn't seem to be working for me (tried it for about 7 minutes straight), should I go ahead and order the X2 programmer? That should be able to let me over-ride the 1st bank bios right?

Yes - a programmer will sort this.

I'd recommend flashing X2 5035 to Bank 1 and FlashBIOS 3.0.1 to Bank 2 (both 512k). It means that in future, you'll be able to boot FlashBIOS on bank 2 to reflash if required.

i have an issue like this too......

i flashed bank 1 with the wrong bios, and now it flashes red and green.
bank 2 loads the flashbios screen, and i tried to flash bank2 with the 5035plus (i have 1.6 xbox) and it just keeps returning to the flashbios screen. ive tried to flash it 4 times now, and it keeps finishing flashing, shutting off, then it boots back up to the flashbios screen......

i have no idea what to do now. my bank 1 is f'd up quite bad, and bank 2 wont stay flashed

On the X2, FlashBIOS will ALWAYS start to flash to bank 1 regardless of the switch settings.

Therefore:

Boot Bank 2.
Flash chosen 512k BIOS.
Switch to bank 1.
Test.
If no good, then repeat.

i found a solution: just load up a 1mb 5035 bios, and flash it.

worked perfect for me.

now my xbox is fully modded and everything!

LMAO - so instead of listening to someone who knows about this stuff, you've now lost your FlashBIOS on bank 2.

Didn't you try booting from bank 1 at any time ??

Ok - I don't want to see any posts from you stating "Help = how do I reflash my chip? No flashBIOS".

oh, you said to boot from bank 2, but before you flash, switch it to bank 1 while the xbox is on?

the position of the bank switch wont effect what bank is flashed as Martin said bank 1 will always be flashed first ...... so booting from bank 2 and flashing a 512k bios will always flash bank 1 ..... bank 2 will only get flashed if its a 1mb bios

I have a 1.1 that was in a "coma". One of the banks was corrupt. So I installed my X2.6 and booted (forgot which bank I booted in) My xbox came back to life but ever since I flashed my xbox has been fragging. Any suggestions?

Yes - next time you post a problem, be precise with what you're actually doing. There is no information here at all.

1. What BIOS did you flash?
2. What size BIOS?
3. What bank are you booting from?

After getting the information, look over this thread again (and others) and see if you can spot where you went wrong.

You'll need the programmer to sort this, or another working chip to hotswap with.

You can go ahead and play backups/imports.

Nothing different, it looks completely normal, it then goes on to display a corrupted MS error message screen.

Well it's hard to say what the error is, the screen looks like one of those slidey puzzle things.

However, I have made some progress and I think it may all be down to me being a complete n00b and not reading up on stuff in the first place. I put the old hard drive back in and it boots up properly with the ikkle logo at the bottom of the screen.

I've found a tutorial on formatting a hard drive so will give that a go and retry my new drive.

messed up the flashing.......

Finally got the router to work and was able to get to the upload and flash screen.
Used the X3\3294V16plus.bin to flash the X3 chip. Also have the Xecuter dash and new 120 G seagate Hd installed.
So i got the screen saying it was flashing. got the full green bar on it so i know the chip was being flashed. Problem was it never turned itself off. Stayed on over 2 hours. ( i fell asleep waiting for it). Now when i try to boot up the chip is flashing red and green few times then stays off. I had the dash panel as first 2 switches IN the other 2 out. protect switch was RED...
Can some one Please give some advice or help on how to fix the problem.
