I get my LED's off ebay, they are just 3mm led's.
Its not bad what I do is hot gue down the individual led's where I want them in clusters, then soder the positive ends together, and the same with the negative ends, within just
the clusters. Then I run wires between them all linking the
positives and the negatives. Then I hot glue everything so
nothing can touch each other to create a short, then simply
connect the positive to the wire I ran from my 12v source with one resistor in between, and then connect the negative wire to the wire leading from my ground connection.
putting them in clusters and hooking the metal legs of the leds together makes it easier as you need less wires to run in side the case, keeps it cleaner, learned this after doing my gears console where I had the leds all individually wired.
