GENERAL Idea about Hitachi 0500

Hey all,

I've recently spent a lot of money on assorted Xecuter products, and have been quite busy helping friends out

I bought a NAND-X, X360USB, a CK3i and a coolrunner and while reading to the data that is stored on this website (It is a LOT) I came up with an idea. I was hoping people could shed some light on it for me.

At home I got 2 Xbox's. One fat and one slim. The slim unfortunately has a Hitachi 0500 drive and is also very new, like 2 weeks or something, but I really want to install some thingy in it. (Don't ask )

Now here's what I was thinking...
Isn't it possible to use JTAG to obtain the DVD-key from the nand, get a replacement drive and inject the DVD-key into the firmware of the replacement drive?

If your board is a Trinity you can install Cool Runner and get the dvd/cpu key, make a glitch image to install to the nand and then its possible to put your dvd key in another drive

I thought spoofing with another drive wasn't supported with the new dash?

when RGH is installed the box dosen't care about the osig of the drive, just make sure the dvd key is correct

RGH is perfect for 0500. Those drives are very rare to obtain, for one would have to be extremely unlucky to have one. If its a trinity, I'd install CoolRunner, grab the DVD key and spoof a phat lite-on drive with its legs cut modified to fit. 0500 boards usually end up at pawn shops, i bought one a few months ago with the drive and faceplate missing and the xbox case cracked. Don't feel to bad about it. Grab a CoolRunner and grab that key.

My idea goes a bit further...

The steps I plan to make:

-install jtag and coolrunner
-read dvd key
-restore xbox's nand to virgin state so I can safely go on live again
-remove coolrunner
-use obtained dvd key in slim liteon drive that can be "LT-ed"
-install new drive in xbox

Any thoughts?

as far i know its not possible that way, something about its not possible to changes the drive orsig in type 2 nands

Once you RGH, i believe its impossible to revert back to virgin due to the fact that the LDV cannot be changed it only increases. If your intentions is to use XBL, don't mod it at all. Leave it how it is because the drive that you have does not allow you at this time boot backups.

Last step wont work.

The only drive that will work in that console is a hitachi (no lite-ons, samsungs, benqs etc.)

That process sounds like a downright pain in the ass as well, just RGH(If trinity) and enjoy the homebrew being released!

Box is closed up again. Main difference with a "normal" Corona is the big chip in the upperright corner. It's labeled "NAND128W3A28N".

been doing some looking, mad a comment on your other post, and on xkey forum as welll...it's a corona with the nand topside before they moved to the bottom of the board..must be an early model
