This is just a little idea i had for a custom box, and please be nice, i did it on paint. if anyone wants to add on to the idea, feel free to. (and ofcourse, i the part with the dvd tray would be see thruogh, as well as maby using plexy glass and some nice led's to cover up the harddrive?? not sure if it is possible but it would be cool)

Sure, it's possible. I don't see any issue with it. Besides, if you had a glass cups in the cup holders with LEDs below, that'd be pretty nifty. You shouldn't have to worry about condensation too much, as long as the modified case was sealed well. Internal heat ought to keep moisture out of the important stuff. If you are really concerned about it, tape some packets of silca gel to the inside walls of the cup holders (out of sight).

I wouldnt even begin to know where and how to get a case like that, i sure as hell wouldnt know how to make one, unless i just didnt even use anything to do with a normal xbox case....maby i could just use a big plexyglass case?? (that way everything would be very easy to see)

Another idea just came to mind....do you think it would be better to not have cup holders and maby try and move the controller ports to the top where the cup holders are??? i havnt ever seen an xbox with moved controller ports.

Yeah, there is nothing like that to my knowledge. You'll have to, undoubtably, make it custom out of acrylic or, like you said, plexiglass (assuming you want it see-through).

Well, sure it doesn't have to have cup holders, but I thought that was the intention of your mod. People have moved controller ports before: usually as a result of major modifications (I myself am halfway through moving my Xbox into a PC case, if it gets finished before my first semester at Mizzou begins, then I'll post pictures... it's gonna get a nifty paint job now that I'll have a very large canvas to work on). Hey, it's your custom job. Make it how you want; if you don't like it, then why would you make it? I suggest you go for your original idea, as that is obviously what you had you heart set on (that sounds really corney... excuse the terminology).

Sorry to post 2 times in a row, but they arnt right after another.....................but anywho, has anyone ever seen a box that has xbox, ps2 and gamecube all built into one??? and also this may bt the most stupid question in the world to ask, but i have had this idea for a long time and if i could make it happen, it would be a one of a kind. I was wonder if there was actually a way to cut your mobo in half, then take the time to connect every single little trace on the two boards (so that you could make an xbox like mine be super skinny.) i realize it would take probably months to connect them, but if you did would it work???

I've seen an Xbox and a Gamecube combined before. I've also seen plans for similar ideas you have just mentioned. However, I don't think any of them have gone through, probably due to the amount of time required to do so, as well as modifying a PC case to hold the inards of all three (I would think a PC case would be the only thing large enough). However, if you'd like to do that, have a lot of time, and a mild budget (for buying the parts you will inevitably need to purchase), then by all means go ahead. You definately are not the first person to think of this, but you would be one of the few people to accomplish it.

Well... in theory, it's possible... (I believe the Xbox motherboard is single layer) I guess. However: have you seen that board?! I mean, after all, ouch! I don't think a soldering iron with a fine enough point exists in the world. So, unless you are a machine (I'm not trying to doubt your skills... but installing a mod chip and creating a motherboard are in a tad different league), I think you ought to stick to the original idea. Besides, two large cups are almost as long as the Xbox's length, so it's not like you need to remove three inches. You can make it shorter simply by moving the controller ports to the roof the Xbox, and it'll still be one of a kind.

I've seen it. A guy built a big oak box and put an xbox, PS2, gamecube, and I think he even threw in a 64 if I'm not mistaken. *Looks for pictures* Crap. I can't find anything right off the bat with a google image search, but I think it was linked on some custom case website. It was really badass.

I know it would be hard, but i just think it would be really cool. I was looking at an extra mobo i have and was trying to pic out points where the least amount of lines would be cut...i also came up with another idea that i cant really show on paint. I just think it would be a nice effect because the leds would almost reflect off of it. What if i took one of those cutting things (starts with an "r" and i cant rememebr the name due to the fact i have been up for like 2 min.) What if i looked at the board and if there are any spots that are pretty big (atleast the size or a quarter or half dollar) and took that little r thingy and actually cut squares into it. Then i could make my custom plexyglass box atually have big holes going through it...its hard to explain but it all goes together up in my head. i will try to come up with a way to actually do it on paint (if anyone has a good photoshop program that make make 3d diagrams then they could do it really easy.) As for the oak box, that sounds pretty cool.

Nice ideas (man, this kid is goin' some where!). The wildest thing I have seen would be an Xbox in an iMac case, monitor working, sound working, and all that good stuff.

Now, did that oak combo dealy actually function as one? Or was it just a box with all three in, completly seperate? Cause if so, that wouldn't be too hard at all. Now, combining all three, making your custom integration system, and relocating all the parts to make it look good, would just be great. I would pay someone to make me one.

Do you mean a router or a dremel? I can see what you are picturing (like, putting holes in the mobo where there are no traces), and that has the potential to be nifty, but you would absolutely have to put it in an acrylic case, to show off your efforts.

Hey, if you have the cajones to cut your mobo in half, go ahead. If it works, then that would be the only one out there, I'm pretty sure... if not, then you can remove the chips and stuff and make some pretty nifty key rings or something.

thats kick ass but i think it would be very hard to do. what you could do to make it alittle easier, is put the hdd under the dvd drive, and put the cup holders to the right, above the psu. then you have more dept to work with

JJesterjoker---Well the only thing is, i plann to use 2 hdd's. Then i am going to have to put a switch so i can choose wich hdd to use.

Linux---Yes a dremel is the word i was looking for, thanks. Do you think that would be the best tool to use or not?? Also since you really seem to understand what im talking about, would you be interested in possibly helping decide the best spots to put the holes at?? If you have some sort of messenger program we could probably communicate through that, or if you dont, we can always post on the forums. (im at my girlfriends right now, but when i get home i will try to get a pic of a mobo and i can probably do some nifty stuff on paint to see what you think about good spots.

Anyone else--I'm open for suggestions. If anyone has a neat idea that they think could maby work, i would be more then happy to try it (if within reason)

Ideas--I also was reading where someone was talkin about hardwiring in wireless controllers. That does not sound like a half bad idea. I could always try it on my box. My only question would be, if i did use some sort of clear casing would the little invisibly rays travel through it to the wireless part or would they bounce off of it??)

i think hardwiring the wireless controllers in would top this thing off very nicely. im the one thats been talkin bout it here lately. but yes that would top this whole thing off great

Here are the only good spots i can think of to cut holes out with the dremel (i know its not a lot but it would be very custom and i think it would look cool with the leds. I could always glue mirrors over those spots also. That might look cool. Who knows??? if anyone can come up with something cool to put there or if they think i should just cut and put the clear plexyglass there, just let me know. Also there is a total of 6 of them. Make sure you look up to the top left and right (one hole is already there)
