Just because the disk says "Dont make illegal copies of this disk" doesn't mean making a copy is illegal. gun could say "Dont shoot someone in the head" and if some crazy ass mofo was running at me with a knife, I'd sure as hell shoot him in the head without thinking. It's a scare tactis microsoft uses - They know some people will think it means copying disks is illegal - Which... it's technically not.
Backing up a DVD movie = not illegal also. Decrypting it, making DivX and stuff out of it... thats something else, but popping it into a DVD-R... clicking make copy, thats perfectly legal. If you own something... it's legal. And even if it isnt... theres a 99.99999 chance you wont ever get in trouble, even if bill gates shows up at your house and sees you with a copy.
Copying games... illegally, or whatever... you're most likely not going to get caught. It's 1 in a gazillion chance... unless you start downloading games from places like bittorent, and microsoft decides to go after it. If your just renting games and copying them, trading with friends, or getting them off usenet (none of which we promote) Then you will most likelly never hear from no one about it... in order for them to find out, they have to access your xbox... in order for that to happen, they have to have proof... in order for that to happen... they have to be tracking down some pretty stupid people. Backups are legal - There is no proof you dont own a copy of the game... That is why MPAA and IRAA do not go after downloaders... they only go after uploads. It'd be alot harder for them to get people who download movies... and prove they dont own a copy of the movie... infact, it'd be almost impossible. It's sharing... not downloading, which is bad. Well... illegal, of course copyright infidgment is bad
