hello all, i have been reading a fair bit this morning on this site about burning xgd3 games, what i wanted to ask is, (and i appreciate that having the ihas burner and using verbatim discs is what is recommended by all), is if i have no intention whatsoever of going on XBL, do i still need the ihas burner, (i use verbatim discs anyway all the time), and if the games are not xgd3, say xgd2, will they burn ok with the burner i have in my desktop pc, as i said our xbox is just for family use and we have no interest of going on line to play against other people etc, thank you, hope this isnt too vague and have explained myself properley.

If you flash lt3 yes you will need
If you flash lt2 and truncated or overburn you may get read errors and or crashing if your dae.bin has been updated your going to have to update titles long story short buy a ihas for £16 and flash lt3 use abgx your discs are going to work without any headaches

thanks, if they are xgd2 games, and have been run through abgx, and burned with imageburn using verbatim discs, i am hoping that these will play, my xbox360 is a liteon, and is getting flashed to LT v 3.0, will they work mate, and as soon as i get any xgd3 games i will definitely get the ihas burner.

you need to remember that most games that you buy in the future to back up will more than likely be xgd3 format so the ihas burner and lt3 will then be needed regardless......
so in answer to ya question yes buy it as soon as you can afford it ...

Any properly burned games will work with LT 3.0 - it's backward compatible.

As for XGD2 games, you can continue burning them using any burner you like that burns DVD+R DL discs with sufficient quality. Only XGD3 (and onward, if that happens) games need the iHAS.

Truncated backups with XGD3 are possible but as you're leaving data off the disc you can have issues while playing the game, not just on XBOX Live.

Thanks for all the replies, and this answer above absolutely nailed it for me, to be honest, as we have only just got the xbox 360 at christmas, there is no massive urgency to get the newer games which would have the xgd3, theres probably loads of classic games we can get off ebay very cheaply, which for us would be amazing, so for now I am going to hold back on the ihas burner, as there are that many games we can play and try out until we get to the stage of wanting to try the newer games which would have the xgd3 etc.:D,
