Hello all,
I'm having a little trouble flashing. I've got a Xecuter 2.6CE Lite. And my Xbox version is 1.6 - I'm getting some fragging. At first I thought I may have to recheck my solder points, but when I'm switched to bank one, it boots to FlashBios 3.03 just fine. So as far as I know, if I can get it to boot to FlashBios, that means I installed the chip correctly, right? So anyways, I've been using the X2 programmer to flash the chip. I've had good results, it flashes successfully, I verify, and even clear banks and read from the chip directly...all good results. But when I put the chip in, and switch to bank two, it frags. Bank one, boots up fine to flashbios 3.03. So I'm a little confused on this one. I thought maybe since my Xbox is a 1.6 it requires a special bios. And as far as I know my chip only is compatible with bios that are 256k in size. So I've been flashing 4983.06 instead of the current 5032 which is 512k. I also noticed that sometimes on my FlashBios screen, it detects my chip and says, "Read only???" Is it possible that the programmer is not actually writing to my flash memory? ....and the only reason why FlashBios boots correctly is because the chip comes pre-flashed w/ 3.03??? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. :)

Your chip has two 512k banks. That means you have to flash with a 512k bios file.

Get 5035, and use the 1.6 version. 4983 does not work with a 1.6 board.

When using the programmer I noticed that when I click on bank three and select my 256k bios, it fills up both bank 3 & 4 with the same 256k file. So if I want to use a 512k bios like you suggested, should I follow the same procedure and the programmer should detect the 512k bios?...filling up banks 3 & 4 with just ONE file? I hope I'm not being too confusing. Thanks.

Not on this planet!
If your bios is 256k in size and you select bank 3 in X2BM it will automatically select the same bios file and fill in bank 4.

So put X_5035 in bank 1, it will auto-populate bank 2
And put your 256 bios in Bank 3 and it will auto-populate bank 4

Flash it and away you go, attached is a jpg image of what it should look like...

more problems

Ok,
I got 5035 and I fired up X2 bios manager. But when I try to add x2_5035_v16plus_512k to bank one, it won't open it. In other words it won't let me add it to the bank. So I tried to add it on bank 3...same thing. It won't open. So I decided to try to add another bios to see whether the X2 bios manager was just being finicky. Tried adding x2_5035_vOld_512k to bank one. It works! But my xbox is v1.6 so that bios won't work w/ mine. I'm a little confused as to why X2 bios manager will let me open the old bios, but not the one for v1.6
Anybody out there have this problem? And just as a side note, I tried this procedure on a different computer and I got the same results. Maybe I'll have to settle for an older 256k bios. Anyone know of one compatible with X2.6CE Lite with a v1.6 box? @Dreamweaver...I noticed you used EvolutionX M8 Bios_v1.6. Will that work as a main bios for X2.6CE Lite with a v1.6 or do I have to use a Teamxecuter bios?

The EvoXM8 bios will work fine.
It will fine if you enjoy bugs and less stability.

What error does it give? Have you tried to modify the bios at all? What version of Bios Manager do you have?

Everthing's good

I just noticed in Dreamweaver's pic that his bios manager was version 2.3. So upgraded to that version and that seemed to do the trick. I'm all flashed and ready to put my box back together. Thanks all.

When you say it does not work ... what does the box do when you turn it on ? I just sintalled one and my box clashes with a red X logo and a green and red flashing xbox LED ... what does that mean ?

Red X logo? Where are you seeing that? The red and green flashing LED means you likely have a problem with your install. Does your Xbox boot with the chip off?
