i'm installing the xecuter 2.6 CE with the new xapt3r

Hey guys,
Just looking some help here. I've been surfing the net for days trying to find a specific tutorial to install the xecuter 2.6 CE with the new xapt3r solderless adapter. I can't seem to find one. Following the intsructions for the older xapt3r i think i have installed it correctly. what should i see when i have it installed properly? on the actual chip i mean, should there be a red light? when i start it up, the flash bios mode comes up on my screen, but it doesn't do anything, and just stays there. should this happen??
maybe i should explain my situation a bit better. i tried to softmod my xbox and messed up my original hard drive, so i bought the chip combo and a new 40 gig hard drive. i have the slayers bootdisk to format the new hard drive. how should i go about doing this? please help me someone, i miss my xbox.

one other thing,
if i fit the chip with the xapt3r, do i still have to attach those wiress to the chip or not? i have it connected to the external switches already.

Flashbios is what you should see. You will have to download a hacked bios (X2 5032) from Xbins, and flash your chip with that. See http://xbox-scene.com/articles/xbins.php for info on how to use Xbins. See http://www.teamxecuter.com/flashbios for a tutorial on how to flash your bios. You won't have to deal with resizing anything since 5032 is already a 512k file. Also, when you flash with flashbios, the bank you booted from does not matter, the first 512k will Always go to bank 1.

ok,
i thought it is pre-flashed with cromwell bios. i just had another look at it. the red light was on the xapt3r not the chip. i took the chip off and put it back on again and the red light stays off, when i boot up it goes to the normal xbox boot screens and then to the error screen because my hard drive isn't formated (my friend has the slayers boot disk so i have to wait a few days til he gets up to the city) error 5 i think it is.
What about the other connections? do you need to connect the other wires that come with the chip? the only one i'm not sure about is the one with 3 wires and a white head( the do ,lan, hdd cable) do i still need to attach the lan and hdd cables, the one with the red head is for v1.6, but my box is v1.5 or v1.4, i have the do wire connected and the external switches connected, is that everything?

i'm pretty sure i have it right, i'm just double checking because i haven't read a full tutorial for the xecuter 2.6CE & the new xapt3r combo.

No, you don't need to connect the D0/LAN/HDD wires. Error 5 means the hard drive is unlocked.

thats perfect, u kinda confused me with, the flashbios thing tho. the chip should already be pre-flashed right? does everything sound as it should?

The chip is preflashed, it is has FlashBIOS on it. You have to put a different bios on to get any benefit from the chip. FlashBIOS has one purpose, and that is to flash a new bios to the chip.

I'm gettin nowhere with this, i got slayers onto a dvd-rw and tried to format my new drive, but now i'm gettin an error 16. I had a bit of a look around, ifound this:

Q. ERROR 16 why do I get this and how do I fix it?

A. Error 16 is caused by the Clock not being set and the bios is not able to take control of the boot sequence so the Xbox tries to load the M$ dash and it is either not there or is corrupt. the only way to fix this is to boot to the retail HDD and reset the time then continue with the drive swap, But what if this happens on the retail HDD well this is a problem, depending on the bios you have on your mod chip will depend on the results and if the mod can be flashed outside the Xbox. If the chip can be flashed with a programmer like the Matrix has or BioXX or NitroXX or the X2PRO has built in then you're in luck.

Do you know anything about this? what kind of bios it is i need that is compatable with the chip? and is it possible to flash the chip without access to a dashboard? i dont have my old hard drive. what can i do to fix this?

i think with slayer's disc you can use it to rebuild your C drive, and place all original M$ files back on c drive
i'm not sure though as i've never used slayers

If you just formatted the drive, and didn't install anything that is your problem. There should be some menu selection for you to install and rebuild the hard drive.

hey guys, ok i just realised where i went wrong, i should have listen to you. i still need to flash my chip with a hacked bios. i understand that i need 512k X2 4983 Bios or X2 5032 right? ok so there are 2 things i'm unsure of. 1) where exactly on xbins do i find the hacked bios? i need exact directions please cos i've looked everywhere on there and can't find it. and 2) could i possibly have messed up my chip? the flashbios screen doesn't come up anymore, it does the xbox boot up thingy and then goes to error 16. how do i get back to my flashbios screen?? i think i'll do it by http, it seems the easiest. what should i do to proceed??

get the X2 5032, no need to resize anything since it is already 512k
check out the readme1st.txt that comes with it

put your stock drive back in your box, flashbios should come back, then flash the bios with the partition settings of your choice

ok, heres the deal, i got my xbox going again, i guess i was just to eager to listen. my problem was that i didn't flash the chip with the hacked bios. i don't know how but i had knocked the chip off the adapter slightly so that is why the flashbios wasn't coming up. its rally quite easy, i'm just a bit slow anyway good luck to all future modders. pay attention to what the experts say, make sure u understand wht they're saying, and u should be ok, cheers to skytecbvmo for getting the bios for me also cheers to the retired alcoholic who helped me on the first page, he knows his stuff.
