Would it be ok to place the mobo and the power supply directly on the pg or should I put something under it? Under the Power supply is the original foam pad so I assume that will be ok.

I would suggest that if you ever remove something from the stock Xbox then you should always try to replace it with something that will do a simillar job. I say this for your own protection and safety. So yes... i think that you should replace it, after all it wont be that much effort really.

you should go buy some Mobo mounts. So the mobo "stands" off of the plexi a bit. And you can use them to screw the mobo down cleanly.

If it's grounded to some aluminium then it should be OK though right? Cos then it's protected against static.

There's also the issue of airflow... with alittle space between the MOBO and the plastic it will cool alot better...

I'd also be worried about static while I'm working on it... You could use electrical tape and tape a wire to the side of the box and the other side to anything big and metal... like a lamp or chair... while your working on it. Once it's together and your using it I doubt it'll create that much static just sitting there, but when your all inside of it and screwing around... that's the bad ju-ju. ;)
