Heres whats going on. I did the X3 install on my v1.6 with the rebuild. Now the first time i did a power up, and still, i get it to make a sound like its loading (but nothing on the screen) and i have two blues on the chip controller, but then i either get an amber light, or red to green to red to green etc. around the eject button. Have i just fried my box? I have no idea what to do. I checked all of my connectiongs, and everything seems clean and secure.

red to green to red to green is what we call Flashing Red And Green or FRAG for short.

Most frag issues are soldering based, check and recheck and clean and check again
Other questions are: what video/audio cable are you using.
Was is an X3 or the newer X3CE?

I checked all of the soldered connections and they look solid, clean, shiny, and secure. I am using the original video/audio cables, and i dont know if the x3 is new or not. Its purple with the white inlay on the back of it.

Sometimes it doesnt frag, but it wont load up still and ill get an amber light. It only goes on for little spurts of time, and then on the third try the amber light flashes and the fan speeds up, and it wont turn off until i unplug it. I cant get ANYTHING to load.

Make sure the switches are in the off,on,off, off position. Try that.

If you disconnect the X3, does it boot?
Nope, it wont boot when i disconnect the x3, it does basically the same thing. And i have tried all of the different bank settings as well. Nothing is working. Im thinking of disconnecting, wicking all of the solder back up, and doing the wire install and see what happens from there. Any thoughts?

Well Amber is wither dodgy video cable or dodgy EEPROM. Maybe some tiny, tiny solder splash on that or the video chip ?

keep on trying. i had to buy a new motherboard but i got it to go on the second try.

it is not easy but it is "do-able". once you get it working it is worth the hassle. plying off of the hdd is great; faster load times and no worries about lasers wearing out.
