In game music via samba?

Just a thought... I know with an unmodded Xbox you can rip your audio cds to the hard disk and then listen to the songs in-game.

I have a separate fileserver with a samba share for my mp3s that I currently access via XBMC. Does anyone know if there's a way to setup my Xbox so it accesses this samba share for playing in-game music as well?

Thanks...

If i'm understanding you right, then what you have to do is convert the music you want to hear in game to wma, then use Xbox Soundtrack Editor to transfer the files to your xbox and create them as ms soundtracks, and then you can play them in your games. I posted on xbmc request forums to be able to just add folders of music as soundtracks, but I don't think it got much response. I thought maybe they could have a feature that lets you just add folders of wma's over smb as ms soundtracks (copy them to your box and edit st.db file), and then if you put a codec in some folder yourself (unless you can get a codec that will encode wma's for free i don't know) it would enable the ability to convert from mp3 etc and then add the files as ms soundtracks.

I'll answer this a bit more directly...

No, the modchip would have to support reading from a samba share and tricking the game into thinking the samba share is the mstracks folder.... not possible currently.

Nope, and even if the bios did include a samba client that could run in the background and a st.db editor, you would only be able to play wma files, unless it managed to convert on the fly into wma :D
Actually, it might just not be possible at all.

Ban Wave update?

Anybody have any information as to if the Samsung iXtreme LT v1.0 has passed the ban wave, or do I need to wait until at least the 4th?
