For any of you going through this for the first time.... this is typical and can be expected at times of major firmware updates.

As we have stated dozens of times before: SX OS has features that other cfw do not... namely XCI loading. In this particular case the game cartridge slot firmware was updated. This is the 2nd time that firmware has been updated since the switch launched. The developers have stated it's not a problem, they are going through the steps of adding support for it as we speak. it's just a time consuming process.

Smaller firmware updates where it's just keys changing come a lot faster. 9.0 Changed the keys, changed the tsec firmware, and also the cartridge slot firmware as stated above.

Please be patient.

An update is on the way. We just have to get it through development and testing so it's ready to release.
Thanks for the update. I just got my SXOS Pro today, and like an idjut updated the (launch era) Switch before disconnecting it permanently from the internet.

So am stuck on 9.0 until the guys sort out an update.

It pays to read more than the manual sometimes...:(

Quick question, whenever the issue is fixed and an update is released, am I updating the dongle itself?

If you upgraded to 9.0.0, you can get the latest dev release of Atmosphere and Choidujour, downgrade your firmware to 8.1.0, then create an emunand partition in SXOS (while still on choidujour 8.1.0) then flash your original stock nand back to 9.0. This will give you an emunand on 8.1.0 and a sys firmware on 9.0 with no ban.

Can say it works because I did it myself. It's a bit of a tedious process but doesn't take that long.

keep in mind you will lose cartridge slot function on nands lower than 9.0 but xci loader should still work

I think I will wait, it's all new to me and I certainly don't want to do anything drastic like partitions and downgrading if there is any risk at all - it's why I bought the SX Pro to begin with.

Depends on your view
Hey just wanted to ask a quick question, so if you buy a new switch will it be updated to the latest firmware or do you get the option of updating it according to what function you are trying to use?

Because after seeing the sx os I'm thinking of getting me one.

I have a problem

I'm on 8.1 (just got the switch. never anyone tried anything on it )
I have the sx pro beta fromnpage and the correct bin in the sd card formated as exfat ( I might try fat 32 if needed but I wanna rule out other issues first )

I start up the sx os ( red boot screen) and I try to start the switch but it stays on a black screen for a while .. ( my brothers swtich boots immediately )

Can someone give some advice on how to proceed ??

My 8.1 switch doesn't have exfat support and wants me to update .. so I think it might be my issue .. but I won't go online to update to 9.0 obviously

I can boot to sx os beta version

Should I make a band backup or something meqnwhile?
Help :)

Not sure what you did wrong, but whatever the circumstance, absolutely use FAT32. And make a nand backup.

I believe I've not done anything wrong that I know of ( yet )

Inserted jig
And USB c ( power and + )
And empty exfat new microsd card

Entered bootloader

Tried to boot first option cfw
Created licenserequest.dat
Went to sx site and downloaded actual license

Bootloader again
First option boot cfw

And then. It gets black .. for. Several minutes ...
So I have to turn off and on and it goes back to normal 8.1

Or bootloader if it's still inserted

So basically I have just booted the bootloader but not done anything with the other options yet

The only thing that I can mention is that the switch can't read the memory because it says I need an update but I can't update because that would take me to 9.0

Ayuda!

If you don't have any knowledge, definitely do your own research beforehand. I don't really think downgrading is hard, but non-tech savvy or newer users might struggle with it it a bit.

There's also probably a much easier way to do this than what I'm describing here, but it's just a short guide. It's also kind of a long process because you have to create an emunand partition, restore your NAND (and maybe transfer it). In general should take about 2 hours, most of which is just waiting.

You need atmosphere, hekate, 8.1.0 firmware files, SXOS, ChoiDujour, and a clean NAND backup. All of these can be found on google super easily besides the backup.

1. On your OFW, enable airplane mode/turn off internet. Probably not necessary but couldn't hurt.
2. Launch SXOS, go to Payloads, launch Hekate. In Hekate, launch Atmosphere 9.0.0.
3. In Atmosphere, launch HBL by either holding L/R and clicking Album (forgot what button it is).
4. Launch ChoiDujour.
5. Select your 8.1.0 firmware files then press downgrade. It'll ask if you want to use the exFAT option or not, honestly I'm not sure what it does but I have a fat32 card so I selected to not use it.
6. Once it's done restart and verify OFW is on 8.1.0.
7. In SXOS, create an Emunand. It'll copy the 8.1.0 partition now - which is compatible with SXOS.
8. Check that your CFW is in 8.1.0 by clicking launch CFW.
9. Restore your nand by going into SXOS options and clicking NAND.
10. Your CFW is on 8.1.0 and your OFW is on 9.0.0 now with no traces - go nuts!

Can verify this works pretty well as I've been playing ultimate daily since doing it on my OFW and homebrewing on my CFW.

If you don't have a clean nand the process is basically useless.
