Information on TUs and DLC...

I did some reading around the forums about DLC and TUs... below is what I found. Can someone confirm that all this information is correct and post any errors / corrections / additions for it?

-An external hard drive cannot be used for downloadable content (DLC) or title updates (TUs), redardless of whether

the hard drive is formatted for Xbox 360 storage or as FAT32. DLC and TUs must go on the internal hard drive (the

hard drive connected to the side of the Xbox 360).

============================

-You do not need every single TU for a game, you only ever need the latest TU, which always includes earlier ones.

============================

-TUs will go in one of two places:

Hdd1\cache\

OR (for newer games)

Hdd1\Content\0000000000000000\*game#*\000B0000\

TUs do not need to be patched / hex edited - you simply place them in the correct location and they will work. The

game will not go through any special update process when you start it, the TU is active and is automatically

"applied" to the game when it starts.

============================

-DLC go in the following location:

Hdd1\Content\0000000000000000\*game#*\00000002\

DLC will need to be edited to work with your Xbox 360 - this can be done using Yaris Swap, XM360 (launch it from the

Xbox 360), or, you can use DashLaunch and enable the "contpatch" option.

You can open DLC / TUs in Yaris Swap to find the folder location for the DLC and TUs.

You must have the correct TU for the DLC to work.

...the same things apply for Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA) games.
Thank you :D

I have all my DLC from black ops on an external harddrive, that can't be right.
But the rest looks fine.
Granted, I don't have a JTAG, but they are supposed to to give more options right?
Why would you want to hex edit a TU anyways?
Just curious.
If I helped please hit Thanks :)

*game#* isn't a folder with the name of the game but a folder with identification number of the game

can you connect jtag to the net? if so just use title update manager.

most of my dlc works but there is the odd one (for me it's kenshi in mortal kombat and all of the wwe all stars dlc) that will forever remain a mystery. this stuff that should work even shows up on hdd in nxe so....god knows lol.....the latest fsd is comes with content unlocker (no need for yaris swap ect) but fsd is a beta so....

just boot it in file manager with the default.xex and do a manual scan in fsd settings and turn up the scan depth maybe. do the cars now work.did you make the title update "active" in TU manager?

Okay, thank you.
So, DLC will load from an external hard drive as long as the DLC is in an Xbox 360 formatted partition (but it will not load from regular FAT32 partition)? But TUs cannot be stored on an external hard drive even if it is on the Xbox 360 formatted partition?

When I said TUs don't need to be hex edited / patched, I meant that you can just place them in the correct folder and it will work, unlike with DLC, which needs to be Yaris Swapped / patched in some way to work.

From my current understating, JTAGed consoles will not give you more options regarding DLC and TUs. DLC and TUs must still go in the correct locations - they cannot just be placed and loaded from anywhere.

No - you can put DLC on any 360 which you've purchased.

If you want to use the DLC you purchased, sign onto Xbox Live and you should be able to use it.
