Install big game updates in usb hdd?

would like to ask if it is possible to install big game updates to external hdd.. for example i have mk11 xci on the external usb and i need an update for that particular title, can i install that update on the external usb and not on the micro sd?

Unfortunately you cannot but it is possible to merge an update into an xci file using the nsp to xci guide
