I'm having trouble understanding the difference between dash launch and free boot. Also, I'm at the point where I have installed the RGH and it boots to xell. I also flashed dashboard with usb (xenon.elf and nandflash.bin) but it about 30 bad blocks so I don't know if thats bad or not.

I seem to be in a completely different world because none of the software that everyone appears to be using is working for me. At first I thought it was my soldering even though it looked ok. Then I got help from a forum member to use a different version of the same software.

Basically I had 3 jaspers that would not flash the green light using 2 different coolrunners so I knew something was up. I spent more time trying to figure it out then I'd care to admit, but eventually the solution was to use 360 multibuilder .2 instead of .3 . After this I was getting the blinking light and it glitched to xell.

On the second jasper I have, I tried using jtag tool for everything (v4.23). I read nand, then used it to also write .ecc. I installed coolrunner and again I was getting the flashing light, however it was not glitching after 2 minutes of waiting. Realizing now that I can't trust any software out there, I used multibuilder .2 again and it started to glitch within 2 seconds. So I used multibuilder .3 (because it has the 2.26 included) to make freedash and then I flashed it using usb.

Now I have no idea where I am at because I am extremely frustrated at all the crappy software that is not working and causing me much grief. I don't know which one is actually reliable anymore and even if I found one I don't know what version of that particular software is reliable.

So here is where I'm at: I want to get the final steps for my jasper to be able to boot up backups from external usb. What do I need to do? I am only posting here because at this point, the guides are useless as they have been causing me lots of frustration and grief.

Multibuilder to create ecc, boot to xell (seems like you're okay here)
-- Not sure what you've done after this
Get CPU key from xell, put in txt file
multibuilder 0.2 to create ggBuild nand image
-- At this point, xbox should glitch and boot to the std dash
burn xexmenu to a cd, copy it to hdd
xexmenu gives you ftp access, so from there you can install FSD, and once that works, install dashlaunch

Seems like you're getting confused between the nand image and dashlaunch. dashlaunch is software, installed on you HDD. The nand image is NOT dashlaunch.

Nand = allows box to run unsigned code
dashlaunch = unsigned code that tells box to boot into FSD, not regular dash

The guides and software are great, I never had a problem and if there was a problem it was most likely me, just take your time. I see more people having problems from rushing it or don't know what their doing.

i'm pretty sure dash launch is considerd a freeboot patch as it is flashed to the nand.. only thing from dash launch sitting on the hdd is launch.txt
