Installed the wrong bios on 1.6b ?? there is stilla a hope ..

Hi all,

it all started when i got the x3 chip and accidently installed the wrong bios on the only bios that worked.
alot of people said that the only way is to hotswap or change to old Xbox... WRONG.
with some luck and a lot of time you can fix it.

i know that a lot of you has a v1.6b and got the same problem when flashed on the flashbios 3.03.
the backup rom contains Flashbios 3.01 that rarely WORKS on 1.6b. just try to reset a lot of time with the ON+EJECT Buttons and i promise that it will finaly come and the way to go is to flash the new bios (dont forget to change the switches to on on off off off = 1st bank when you flash again)
after youve got the new bios dont forget to flash the backup with 3.03 !!!

X3 3294 is for v 1.0-1.5 and X3 3294 v16plus.bin is for v1.6 & 1.6b .
I hope i helped all of you that made the same mistake that i did

So did this work for you I have a 1.6b and I can use the 3.01 flash bios or at least it goes through the motions and then I see nothing when I tape the pwr button. how do I flash the back up 3.03 do i use a boot cdrw again?

How do I flash 3.03 to the backup? Please help me if you will.

if you have a working x3 bios somewhere inside of bios tools you can reflash your backup as well, is how i saved my botched flash, i installed chip, booted to the 5-8 FB3.03 and just flashed over it with x3, fussed with it awhile then just flashed it thru the x3 bios menu, as of right now i have my x3 3294 on 1-4 and flashbios 3.03 on the other 4 256k banks and the backup i got 5 backups hehe

hey thats great, i have heard that this will work if you percivere now you are living proof.
I have recently advised that you could try this but i think its not that reliable.

In reality its more luck than any judgement. The problem is with the I/O timing on the Hynix ram, maybe out of lots and lots of resets (and i have heard it can be hundreds)..it just catches the ram timing correctly.

maybe for most though this would not work.
The only real solutions are to find a modded non 1.6b box and flash it that way or hotswap with another x3 chip on the mobo. (i dont like this method though).

But for anyone with a screwed 5678 bank and no xbox friends then i guess its worth a go.
