Ill start off with this being my 1st mod chip. 2ndly I used the install and did everything right (i think). But when I boot my xbox it just boots up normal. Ill to both the quick power and long power with same results. I dont see what I could have done wrong. I also booted with covers and drives out of the way to see chip and the led lights up for it. And ideas?

Thanks much

check both your soldering for connectivity and splashes, also triple check your d0 point

as an afterthought take out the eject/reset adapter and just plug the buttons right into the mobo, that should force the chip on if the adapter is the problem

Check your D0 point. This is what tells the xbox to boot from the x3 chip instead of the ordinary boot process.

Well I double checked everything using the X3/X2.6 v1.0-v1.5 install in this site. Still doing the same thing. What else could it possible be??? Bad chip?

Just to clarify here ...

You have :

TWO Blue LED's lit on the X3 itself ?
A BLUE 'X' on the front switch when you power up normally ?

If 'NO' then the soldering is STILL at fault I would imagine - it normally is.

Try disconnecting the front panel plug and boot the Xbox.

Let me know.

I only get one LED lit. Its the one closest to the lcd brightness control (i believe thats what it is). No blue x on control panel. All the pins on the pin header are good because ill push on opposite end and they dont move. The only thing I could i think it could be is the d0. I cant get the sodder out of the hole. i mean its on there and all. what should i check with the multi meter? Im not familar with using them.

Thanks for the help

Well I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but your pin soldering is NOT all fine :(

If you only have ONE LED lit then the chip is not getting it's power and therefore the switch panel 'X' is not lighting up and the chip isnt working.

Check em again !! Look at the stickys in the X3 installation forums. There's definately a bad connection there somewhere. Also try the chip with the front switch panel totally unplugged from the X3 itself.

Good luck.

I think pins 9 or 15 are the 3.3v suppliers.

Hi. I have the same problem. I checked all my connections with a multi meter. I checked the lights. I checked the D0 thing. I get a red light on the switch.

Yours is different, if you have TWO LED's on your chip (Mack, SORT yours coz you dont!!!) and a RED at the front, that means the chip is getting power but not arming - the D0 is the arming wire, although try taking out the power/eject adaptor board and see what happens - also try it with that AND the switch panel totally unplugged.

Mack ... Still need to check those wires bub, if it's the 3.3v not lighting then it could also be the switch panel shorting out - but it IS soldering ...

1 LED = soldering
2 LED's + 1 RED panel = D0 or Pwr/Eject board = not power but not arming

Good luck you guys ...

Just set it to the LED and sound mode, (two symbols for LED and sound), then touch the red and black pins together, it should make a sound. Use this to check if there's a connection. If it makes a sound, there is a connection.

What do you mean, messed up? Try screwing the 2 screws either side of the av connector in or tighter.

The chip bios screen is like split down the middle with the left 1/2 on the right and right 1/2 on the left. Could it be my pins?

Maybe. Or maybe you downloaded a messed up bios?

So it's the flashbios screen that's split down the middle?
