I dont quite understand the question !! You make the xiso image on your PC, using whichever files you need. Just have a go through Craxion and QWix, just to see which one suits you. They're quite straight forward - have a play ! - you wont break it.
As far as networking goes, I'd just get a normal crossover cable and lash it up to the PC temporarily, that way we avoid all the CD burning business. Cheap AND effective.
IM's might be possible - I have a AOL account for sure, but where are you?? The time could be a problem !! lol
