Installed X3, but no power, when removed all works normally

Hi

When i Installed X3 the powerbutton is dead, when i removed the chip it works as it used to do.

i searched this forum for help, but nothing......

i have tripplechecked all solderpoints, no luck.

is it possible that the chip is dead ?

The box is a crystal, and the version is probably 1.6b

5v cable is attached

Hi,
i had exactly the same problem as you until 5 minutes ago. Check the power/eject board for bridged solder points, i had to remove the sticky on the back to find it. Got rid of the bridge and everything started working. Good luck! I'm pretty sure this should help you out.

THANK YOU THANK YOU innivodave.....i had bad solder points on the back of my power/eject too...i bladed the points and now i am in business....

Same here, thanks dude.

but.......

it started once, then i shut it down, installed the dvd-rom + harddrive again, now it cannot boot up the chip, one blue led is lit on the chip, but it isn't in use

the box works exactly as unchipped.. =(

any help anyone ?

no probs guys, glad to be able to help.

Funnily enough Jordanson, I had a similar problem after getting the power to work, the light on the selector switch wasn't working and neither was one of the lights on the chip.
It turned out to be a bad solder point under the pin header. i think i broke a contact by pushing down on the chip too hard. I just resolderd the points under the pin header and it was all ok.
If you are using the pin header this could explain why it happened when you put the harddrive and cdrom back in.

How many LED's are lit on the chip? I've seen this problem on a few different XBox's I've modded. In every case it was a bad solder point on the LPC rebuild for the 3.3v - recheck your solder points - use a magnifying glass. Retouch the 3.3v and you should be fine.

its funny how when i tell people that their solder points are bridged on back they are like "WTF111" and when others tell them they are like "OMG THANX"
