Hey. I bought a Samsung Sh-D162C drive flashed with the latest kreon firmware. However, I can't get my PC to recognize it. It's IDE, and it's using the SLAVE cable, as my master one is well, my master CD drive. Basically, I put a CS in the tray, close it, and nothing happens.

I tried clicking on 'add new hardware' but didn't know what option to select. It came with a CD, but that just has the .sys files on it, no .exe's.

So could anyone tell me HOW or link me to a place on how to install this?

Thanks in advance

EDIT: succesfully installed it, thanks for the help guys! :)

Look at the jumper on the back of both drives. They should be set one of two ways...

1) Both set to cable select
2) One set to master (ideally the one at the end of the cable) and one set to slave

If one way doesn't work try the other.

if oyur running XP you dont need any exes, just pop the disc in and when it says found new hardware it will auto scan the disc and install.

exactly... this'll solve your problem

having these jumpers not properly set up on both of the drives connected to 1 IDE cable, will not show the drive then... not even after adding hardware lol

the IDE drive installs itself.. not CD needed.. not drivers needed
