Hey folks,

I'm installing freeBOOT as we speak, and when I went to write freeboot.bin via LPT under JTAG Tool - my 360 miraculously switched itself on. I know that when reading the NAND you must NOT switch it on but leave the power cable in. I could have SWORE I never hit the power button, is this normal??

As far as I can see, my soldering is just fine. I have no idea why it switched on... But I'm going to re-try it :)

Oh and BTW. My original nand has bad-blocks in it, how can I create a freeBOOT image and fix that problem? :S

*It booted with the xbox 360 logo and froze at E71 error screen after first freeBOOT flash.* - Please note that I am updating from xell on 7371 dash to freeBOOT 13599 dash!

Well - that's OK - but I used JTAG tool to UNMAP original nand of its bad blocks, create FB.bin using unmapped nand, and then FINALLY remapped the freeBOOT image and I am writing to Xbox 360 as we speak.

I believe - or at least I hope - my xbox 360 got the E71 error because I was flashing FB while it was switched on, otherwise I will be pretty scared since I think I lifted the trace coming from FT1U2 on the underside of the board :rolleyes2:. Which caused me to panic and retreat to the southbridge JTAG 3rd alternative.

Nevertheless xell worked fine whence I did so, and got my CPU key and everything :D
However, I am just worried if that lifted trace did have anything to do with E71 after freeboot, because as I say, it boots the xbox 360 logo fine, but doesnt go dash??? I hope its just a bad flash... :frown:

So should I remove the JTAG wiring on the southbridge after getting CPU key?

I did this,

except I did not use a resistor nor did I use FT1U2 or DB1F1, instead I used an alternate point on the south-bridge but kept everything else the same. Please keep in mind that I lifted the trace coming from FT1U2, I hope it is a test point though!
