Installing new 3294 bios problem Flashbios missing or bad maybe???

This may turn out to be a lengthy email.
I have so far modded 4 boxes including the one (1.4) I use personally with X3 and 3209 bios I believe. I just modded a box for a friend (1.3) and successfully installed a 3294 bios there. All of these that I modded were done with X3 chip (great work guys!!!).
Now I have a problem here.
I wanted to update my bios to 3294 but wanted to put it on the bank 5678 so that I can go back to my old bios ( residing on bankl 1234) if something gets screwed. Safety net, you know. When switched the banks (off, on, off, off, protect off) with my Xbox off and then turned it on it started blinking and then instead of getting to the flashbios screen it went to a blank screen (blue front X logo lit) then my disk tray opened. I tried pressing both buttons and the same thing happened. I don't remember if the disk tray opened or not.
I actually put the disk in but the disk I normally use for flashing bioses has two files on it: bios.bin and dummy.bin so nothing happened.

Am I correct to assume that in order to flash a bios in this case I would also have to have a file called default.xbe. I don't know if that would work here at all. I remember reading somewhere on the xecutor page about making a bootable disk using a Craxation software. So far I only used Nero and it worked fine but then I had Flash bios that was controlling the operation.

I have a suspicion that when my son played Conker he clicked on live and when he went there the site updated the xbox. The protect was off so that might have screwed the flash bios. Am I right that this might have happened or am I completely off???

Anyway. MY question is, what would be my steps here?

1. Should I first make a bootable disk and try to istall flashbios. and then try to flash a x3 3294 bios using istalled flashbios

2. Should I just make a bootable x3 bios disk and try to intall it on banks 5678. Will it work without flashbios booting up?

Any other guggestions would be appreciated

Thanks again and sorry for the long mail

Set your switches to off,on,off, off, off with your xbox off. Then turn it on by pressing both power and eject. No default.xbe is needed for bios flashing.

Did that!!!

Did that, if you read my message
The logo on the switch plate changes to sort of "white" but I don't see any Flashbios screen like when I flashed before. Just get a blank TV screen
I believe the disk tray opened but when I put the bios disk in nothing happened

One more thing

I don't remember now, but this was the first box that I modded about a year ago. I might have messed with this bank before, don't know. Just a thought.
Again the 1234 bank works and so does the xbox, but I'm just pissed that I can't get to the flashbios and can't load the new one into the other bank

Any solution will be appreciated. I have it networked to my winxp, run static IP, xbmc, fxp, quix, etc. so if you have any other ideas how this bios loading might work, let me know

Thanx

Can you get flashbios on the first bank?

No flashbios on first bank

Just checked.

No flash bios
When I press both buttons I get the "white" logo on the front "switch" bank plate and the blue TV screen and the disk tray opens.
Could you tell me should I download Flash bios and then which files to put on the disk?
Will I need to make a bootable disk or just use the same tyle I did using bios disk with nero:
Dummy.bin and what...

Thanks

If you can network in then I would just boot from the bank that works and go into x3cl ( hold down white button if you need to stop it booting your dash ).
Then run flash fxp and in the right window go into admin folder/bios banks/1024 banks/bank 5678 and then just transfer your 3294 bios from your pc files on the left window into the upload to flash on the right window.
you don't need to rename your files or anything, just download from xbins and unrar, and transfer the x3 3294.bin file across, no dummy file needed!

You can also update your backup bios using your network by first downloading flashbios v3.0.3 from xbins and unraring it. Then transfer it to the c: drive on your xbox. Then go into x3cl/bios tools/flash backup rom/load 256k bios from c: and then browse to the flashbios file and select it.
I have a v1.0 and 3.0.3 works okay with it.

Thanks

Thanks!!!!
I have just did what you suggested in your first message and it didn't hurt much :)
Moved it over my network and everything works beautifully!!!
What's more my video streaming works again as it should in XBMC.
See I've been having problems with slow network streaming via XBMC for a month or so and could not figure out why and posted some messages in xbox scene and xbmc forums and noone could figure out why it was happening. Everything was as it should have been, all the settings correct.
And then I rememebered that a couple of months ago my son while playing Conker connected to MS life and it updated the xbox. The X3 protect was off and the box booted up normally and still worked fine, but one thing that slowly became apparent was that the network streaming was not what it used to be.
Now I checked it and with the new bios it's what it used to be

I'll try to flash the new flash bios when I feel brave. Maybe in a few days...
One step at a time

Thanks again

I got the flashbios from xbins.
After unraring it I got a file flashbios_303.bin or something like that. I moved it to xbox's drive c.
Should I rename it to anything before trying to use x3cl to upload/flash flashbios, or will it work with this name?

Thanks

You have the right file and you don't need to rename it.
just use it as it is.
go into x3cl/bios tools/flash backup rom/load 256k bios from c: and then browse to the flashbios file and select it.
