Hello, I just ordered my mod chip and solderless adapter, and I am just getting some things ready so I can install them when I get the chip. From what I understand, once the chip is installed it will come to a screen to allow you to choose a way to flash the bios? I think I am going to try the cdrw way. But anyways I got the bios and everything and read the readme and found out I need to run the old one, because I got version 1.0. But anyways, can I just copy the bios to a cd with a dummy file or something and load it up, then access my box through my pc or something with networking and install my dash board, avalaunch and what not. Oh ya, I looked around to find that X2 5032 is the best so far? Will it work for a first time install? Please help, Im just wondering, I dont want to mess my xbox up before I even get it modded, thanks... :) ... Jared.

if your going to use an x3 you cant flash with an x2 bios, other then that just find the latest x3 bios and rename it to bios.bin then burn it to cd-rw with the dummy file included and you should be able to flash no problem

Ok, thanks, good thing I never tryed that one, so once I get the X3 Bios flashed and running, where do I go from there? Do I setup a network and install a dashboard some how? Thanks..

Easiest way by far, and my suggestion would be an auto-installer.
The Auto-install I used was Slayers 2.6 Final, it came with several popular dashes, EvoX, XBMC, XBMP, and Avalaunch. It of course lets you install a new HD AND sets up apps like Emus, and such by simply using it as a boot CD once you flash a bios to the chip.

does it include all of the latest builds or do I just setup a dashboard then update it later, just curious, thanks... :)

Well it is slightly aged, so I'm sure there are new dash builds. There are 2 things you can do to make sure you have the latest build.

The first is to simply install everything, then update the dashes via FTP.

The second is to download the Slayers ISO, and use WinISO or some equivelant program to replace the dashboards with the newer versions using the EXACT same names as the originals in the ISO file.

Quite honestly, I suggest the first way.
