Installing the BIOS problem...

First off, managed to get the FlashBIOS thanks to the Xbinx link. However, I've come to two main problems.

1) Many people connect their Xbox to their PC, and I got what appears to be my Xbox system's IP (192.168.0.11), but whenever I try to connect I get a "Connection Refused" error. I tried logging in with the username "Xbox" and password "xbox" and all the other combos, but no luck. Any idea what's up? I pinged it, and it reads the Xbox, I just can't get it to actually let me get to my Xbox using FlashFtp or the program with a name similiar to it.

2) Everytime I go to install the BIOS using the HTTP way it will begin to install, but before it can finish it will just shut off on me. It's gotten 3/4 green before and will just suddenly stop. Why is my Xbox doing that?

Any help would be appreciated. I've tried searching, but I just can't find any solutions.

I thought the user name and password for FTP on config live was X3 and X3

xbox is the username and password when using the Evox dash..

Are you using a router or crossover cable.... That makes a difference to

Well, I actually tried both passwords but I still get that "Connection Refused" Error and if I'm lucky, it'll just give me a "Timed Out" error.

I attempted using the crossover cable at first using my laptop, but that didn't work. So I decided to try doing it through my router, and that's where I'm stuck at now.

set your pc's LAN ip to the following when using crossover from pc direct to xbox

ip address : 192.168.0.100
subnet mask : 255.255.255.0
default gateway : 192.168.0.10

Also make sure you are using the right ethernet cables.

Tried your comment above, but I'm still getting the "Connection Refused" error. It reads the Xbox, but it won't actually let me ues FlashFtp with it.

Incase you didn't notice either.

just boot to xbox config live and see if you can ftp into the box, the default ip in x3's bios is 192.168.0.1 and with the above setup, should connect, just place bios.bin in /bios/ on c and flash from hard drive

I had the same issue at first... make sure you have VPN enabled on the pc, and you will be able to telnet/ftp to the chip. you can click on help in start menu and search for vpn and find out how to set it up.

Lite-On Open Tray Error After Removing Ribbon

Recently, I flashed 3 of my friends' 360's. Two of them had Lite-on drives. I flashed both Lite-Ons to iXtreme LT 1.1 (one of them, I removed the ribbon cable to the laser before flashing). Now, they both have the dreaded Open Tray error. Has anyone had the same trouble? And is there any way to fix it without replacing it with a new drive?
