xbox v1.0
x3 pinheader install
Has anyone out there used a multimeter to check continuity between pins 2(ground) and 6(5.0v) of the LPC and gotten continuity on an intermittent basis? I have. The multimeter will beep for a second or two then stop. If I remove the probes and let it sit for a little bit, I can repeat the process. My guess is that the small charge the multimeter sends to check continuity is discharging a capacitor between the two pins, then refilling it until next time I try. Does anyone know if this is the case? I have resoldered the LPC a number of times hoping to solve my problem. I can say with certainty that the solder job is good and there is no extra solder getting to a trace and bridging these two pins. I think either something is fried or its the way it is by design. Does anyone know?
I'm investigating why I can't get my x3 to work properly as it is always grounded and simply plugging the power plug in turns the xbox on. If I remove the 2 wire plug that goes to the power and eject button, I can boot the xbox as stock with or without the x3 installed on the pinheader. Both blue LEDs come on and I'm getting proper 5v and 3.3v to the x3. I've investigated the problem with excess solder on the little adapter PCB and have solved that problem by bypassing it altogether. I have the x3 two wire cable soldered to my power and eject switches and have verified that the power goes to power and eject goes to eject.
Any ideas?
