ok im JTAG'd up and running but i have a few questions:

1) can i just completely replace the the MS dash with some thing like freestyle like we could in the xbox1 days?

Personally i dont even want to boot into the MS dash or even look at it any more especially if all my game launching and such needs/should be done threw some thing like freestyle

2) freestyle keeps telling me to get the avatar updates for the full experience and i wouldn't mind having it to customize an avatar and such on my JTAG system.

where is a SAFE place to get this, if i decide to update with the avatar update will i have to flash back to the original NAND, flash update, re-dump and compare, and rebuild freeboot.bin?

3) what are some must have apps tools and other general home brew besides emulators for a JTAG'd 360?

4) what other major differences are there between a JTAG'd 360 and a chipped xbox 1 from back in the day?

I haven't really seen many differences so far it all seems really close to the same with configuring .XML/.INI files to get the dash/app to do exactly what you want it to do im just wondering if there is much that i am missing.

There are some good stickies in this forum and tutorials section that answer most of what you have asked.

I just learned to Jtag and have done two so far with broken spares or repairs xboxes that I got from ebay.

I can tell you that the avatar update is downloadable from the coolshrips jtag tool, it will download it for you and tell you how to use it.

I like FSD too, and I followed a tut that puts a loader on your hard drive/memory stick that boots FSD from the dash - mine boots from a usb HDD. You can have it so that as soon as you turn on your Xbox it will boot from FSD, but it always loads from HHD or memory stick I don't think you can just replace the original dash in Nand, and if that drive fails then the xbox wont boot.

I hope that helps for now - I'm sure some on here will give you a better answer.

another couple of questions:

what is a GOD file? i see a lot of things talking about them, i thought it was a way to play non compatable xb1 games on the 360 untill i seen people using GOD for other things.

can i just plug my HDD into my legit 360 to get the XB1 backwards compatibility patch, or would that put my legit box at risk for ban?

Game On Demand. I.E a downloaded from live retail 360 game. rips can be converted to GOD for a jtag though i've never bothered doing it myself and don't know why it would be needed myself

also hunt around for the hacked version of the backward compatibility patch, it can try and run any xbox 1 title though that doesn't mean it will work and just drop that on your jtag instead.

makes sense think ill use GOD rather than other dash methods if i can do it all (whole game storage and such) from the freboot NXE rather than booting up a replacement dash i cant make permanent any how

ya just found that poking around on "the usual places", tho aren't i required to have a special partition for the XB1 emulation and such, or is that what hdd compat partition fixer v1 from "the usual places" is for?

not seeing much around other than the typical emulation and run games from the HDD kinda thing theres a couple of home brew games i grabbed tho sadly no tetris but there is a SMW port so thats kool lol

I like the NXE2GOD too, If you have an original HDD (or a bigger one in the enclosure) then NXE2GOD seems the way to go because you can copy your games from the dash - patch and play.

For me I only have a USB dock with a 500GB hard drive, and so only 16GB can be used for installing games - the original dash does not see the extra. Its not all lost though because I can install the game - patch and them move it via FSD file manager to my GOD directory. The only bummer being that Only FSD can see them ( but I like FSD so don't mind).

There is a DVD copy function in FSD, but I had problems with it not copying my discs (originals at that!) - so thats why I went down the NXE2GOD route.

I have read that there is an ISO2GOD but I don't know anything about it.

I hope that helped
