I know it has been mentioned enough times, but i'm sure im not alone in that the m$ dongle sux.

The pro switch looks the Dogs Nads, but in reality it just replaces what you already have. I would believe that if it included the IR reciver people would lap it up at the extra cost.

I guess you would need to pay Entertainment rights, or that may have been a lie from m$ to not include dvd playback in the first place.
The other problem would be that it should be compatible with the m$ remote, due to, for example XBMC. Which kinda brings me back to my point that it just replaces what you already have got. Curse it.

Anyway, i know you are looking into this

http://www.teamxecuter.com/index.php?name=News&file=article&sid=105&mode=&order=0&thold=0

but i would definetly buy the pro switch if the ir was fitted, and i would think it would give you a bigger advantage over the also rans in the mod race. ie, if someone was undecided on a mod chip, but you showed than your xbox with pro switch and LCD. GAMEOVER.

Also a professional looking replacement remote, should open up another avenue of income. The m$ one and other 3 party ones look either cheap or a kids toy.

If anyone agrees or not, please post your interest, or else NO demand NO supply

#EDIT# I am talking about a dongle replacement, not the IR mod that just switches off the xbox.

Xecuter rox every box, in a perfect world that is.

Re: IR mod 4 pro switch!

I have said how crap the dongle looks on my crystal box before !!

I would quite happily take appart my m$ dongle and put the insides in a nicer looking case, or i would be happy to buy a pro switch or X3CP with it built in !

I JUST HATE THE BLACK DONGLE !!

Team X - Please address this issue.

Re: IR mod 4 pro switch!

Com on ppl.

Surely you want a ready made out the box enhancment for the xbox that you don't need a ugly dongle to mess up.
The only way it will happen is if there is a demand for it.

Please post feedback with a mark out of 10, on the chances of you buying the pro switch or X3CP, with the infrared dongle built in.

10 = Will buy
0 = Waste of money

Pro switch with IR mod included = 10 / 10
Without mod = 6.5 / 10

Re: IR mod 4 pro switch!

If the pro switch had an IR mod I would order 4 of them right now! (1 for me, 1 for my lil' bro, and 2 for buddies who want this mod as well!)

Xecuter keeps rockin' my box!

Re: IR mod 4 pro switch!

I would order 1 for me and a mod chip plus a 2nd with 2 remotes if this were done. I have convinced a friend of mine to get one too! And I would be willing to pay this cost!

This is the ONLY way I will buy the Pro Switch. Otherwise it is useless to me.

I'm interested to hear if TeamX is planning on designing a "Full" dongle replacement IR receiver. I'd like to control ALL features of my dashes (XBMC and Ava) using my universal remote for my entertainment system.

TeamX... comments?

I'm holding out true enough for the CP before I get the chip and what not (Plan on X3, Xapt3r & control panel) all in one pop for my 1.0.

But can we be honest, people do mods to be unique, in the case of the chip its personal development and to make the thing do something it wasnt intended to. I mean tell Bill his brain child is going to be used for Linux (the irony is wonderful) but the big tado over the IR in the CP is over exagerated. You STILL have to get the remote to make use of it and there are a MILLION kits for it all over the place, it has the space for it already. To hold on buying something over something so small as that shows nothing more than just plain lazy.

Get your CP click it on, then go and pay the 7 or 14 and do the IR Mod and actually be able to say you constructed something in it. Thats where the pride and glory is, not in being able to say "I bought this and clicked it on".

Dont mean to get anybodys dander up, but alot of what I read here (I read alot, hell I havent put the thing in and could do it blindfolded along with troubleshooting & alot of the apps. Hell I am waiting for a deal or the price to go down & all this crying is just going to make it go up or worse... stop production all together.

The IR mods i have found are just power off sensors, activated when the display button is pressed on the remote.

What i am wanting is an intergrated IR dongle build into either the pro-switch or CP. Surely if there was this option readly available that looked astheticaly pleasing i wouldn't be ranting on it here.

"HarshReality"surely if what you say about modding is 100% true, you wont be buying the CP as then you wont be totaly unique, so i guess you will have to buy vacume molding equipment and tolaly redesign bills box.

So just incase i have been misguided (apologys' to teamX) Does anyone know if the dongle can be replaced and intergrated into the amazing X3 pro switch or CP.
When/ where can we get this, plug in add on?

I guess its possible to take apart the dongle, piggy back to usb, and extend the sensor wires to go outside for an internal fit, but how many people are skilled enough, because i know i'm not.

http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/hardwire-dvd-dongle.php

Anyway, i've bought a crystal Pro switch (on delivery) and just to reiterate i would still buy it again if it replaced the dongle.

it has already been said that there will be a version that will come with the IR mod already attached and ready to go
however, they aren't releasing it this way to begin with because they feel that it be an extra cost for people who may not have any interest, so for the time being there is a spot for the ir reciever for people to add ir support themselves

i've seen around xbox-scene wehre people have wired the dongle into the xbox...

just wire the dongle in as other people have done and extend the ir sensor into the pro switch... VOILA!

that's much different
the xIR will allow not only any universal remote (actually so will the ms one but people don't realize it) but it will let you power on/off the xbox from remote

umm....correct me if im wrong, but didnt xecuter himself say a long time ago, like before the x3 even came out, that team x would never touch the dvd dongle or anything involving it.

Quote from Xecuter :

"We have not included an actual IR mod but there is a spot for you to add your own from the many IR mods on sale. We will add our own IR mod once we've spent a little more time on development, and that can be bought later as an optional extra as its a large part of the cost but not everyone would wish to utilize it - this will save dollars for many users."

We know the dongle can be repackaged (see link in previous post), but the idea of a solderless plug in and go package would be greatly recieved by the majority of xecuter owners.
If team xecuter would comment on this it would be great. Also if an IR mod is developed what functions would it have?
