hey everyone ,my brother sent me an xbox from iraq it plays backups on disks and plays backups on hd howver it doesn't play U.S.A. games music or dvdshow can i fix this so that it will play U.S. games.any help would be appreciated

get an x3 along with the x3 bios

You can flash an Xecuter bios or flash a new NTSC eeprom.

with the x3 you hit the white button to come up with config screen this doesn't have that so how can i flash a new bios

with the x3 you can flash with a cd/dvd although the best way is to do it through ftp

First as an edit to my last post. With Configmagic you can "edit on the fly" the eeprom on the xbox and change the dvd region to NTSC.

Go to "on-the-fly" edit command and change the region from "PAL, Region 4" to "NTSC, Region 1". That's it! Now you have a NTSC EEPROM. But, you will have to go to your MS dash and update the clock.

To flash your chip use FlashX.

went into configmagic region already at ntsc 1 went into ms set time and date still nothing if i use flash x where do i put bios

Ok lets backup a second. Get a program called liveInfo. It's run off your PC. It will tell you the settings of your eeprom.
Something just doesn't sound right here. If you have a NTSC eeprom it should play US games.

For FlashX put your bios in a BIOS folder on your C drive.

Hangon no-one here has asked the obvious ... IS THIS AN XECUTER CHIP ... saying that the chip is ugly means nothing. Talking about holding down the white button on startup will do jack for you if its not an X3 loaded with an X3 bios. The fact the box has an m7 bios loaded makes me want to think that this is an X2.something at best, but more likely a homebrew mod chip (based on the ugly comment).

More info required.

i have no idea what kind of chip it is and im sorry if im in the wrong spot.my xbox has a x3 chip with bios 1959 so i was hoping to get some support for my bros xbox yes chip is ugly it is a red square chip no info on chip wire installedi wish i knew how to fix myself but i can't and realy need some help

when i got xbox took his hd out put a new one in formatted transfer most of my hd to his would this be causing all the problems

Does it matter ... there are more civilians working as contractors in Iraq than soldiers. The Xbox came from Iraq? It could have come form anywhere - the point is that the box doesn't work, and has an unknown chip and an unknown history.

God only knows what bios is on there. You need to reflash it with an Xecuter bios. But before you can do that you need to identify the chip.
You can ask your brother what chip it is or go around the sellers websites and try to find it.

yes my brother is a soldier in the army has been in iraq for a little more than a year.he picked the xbox up in baghdad from some street vender for like $85 USD,I think i'll just buy a x3 to replace this chip but if i do will it work properly,I dont have the original hd ,so once i take this chip out and replace with x3 is it gonna go to the flash bios screen

Yes - you don't need the original HDD to install an X3.
