Hi,

I will be asking someone else to jtag my slim console for me as I can't solder to safe my life. I was wondering whether i would be worth to purchase a nand-x at a later date after the console has been jtag'd to read / write to the nand for updates etc or to update the cool runner at a later date ?

Any help would be appreciated.

I would keep a hold of your NAND-X. The reason I say this is because you never know when your console is going to fail an update (FreeBOOT) or something similar. If this was the case, an LPT/USB SPI NAND flasher would be your only means of recovery.

I see. it would then be better to flash the nand directly using the nand-x rather than the Freeboot update via usb?. Sorry if this is a stupid question but I am new to this jtag business.

Also if your going to have it done for you make sure you request that they install QSBs. Alot of Jtagers dont use these at least not with the Phats.
I say this because at least then if it does break down on you in the future you would be able to easily hook it back up and reflash.

If you dont have a nand-X right now and you plan to send it off for the Jtag then you dont really need to run out and buy one Right Now. Then again as fast as they sell you may not be able to get one when you need it!

Edit: The Nand X would infact be the only way to recover if you mess up an update anywhere down the line.

Edit: Edit: Damn you guys had an entire conversation while it took me to type my first post!
