Hi, up until recently i have been using Verbatim 2.4x discs for my backups( with close to a 99% success rate) but it seems as if they have stopped selling them. I tried the Verbatim 8x (mkm-003) discs and after several good burns i start to get failures at either somewhere around 80-90% or at finalize. I figured i would try the gold Windata discs that i see others using and i can't get one game to burn past 50%. Has anyone been able to use the cheaper discs with the Sony Optiarc burner and if so what settings should i change in Imgburn? I went ahead and ordered another burner just in case mine is going bad but now i'm wondering if i should have ordered an ihas instead. Thanks in advance for any suggestions and have a great day..

Ok, i got a pack of 8x memorex that are labeled CMC MAG-D03-64 in Imgburn and no matter what speed i burn at they error out at 50%. Are there any settings that i am missing to make this work? The only change i have made is to set the buffer to max. I should have another optiarc coming Monday so i can see if its the drive but if i am missing something i would be greatly appreciative of a point in the right direction. Thanks again..

i still don't understand why people cheap out on already cheap discs, just use verbatim , they aren't that much dearer and at least they are reliable

Only reason I use memorex is because I have a old stash of at least a hundred of them I found in the basement years ago. I've been using them ever since, and haven't had an issue with any of them using my optiarc. Still have at least 50 of them remaining as well. When I run out, i'll probably go buy more memorex disks just because they are what i've been using and they work fine, so why not? Not because i'm cheap.

I've tried all different kind of brands and I can only get verbs to work on my burner. If cheaper brands work then that's fine. I wud say verbs work best with all burners, so that's why they are recommended and supported.

The only reason that i am trying to use discs other than verbatims is that as far as i know you can't buy 2.4x verbs anymore (the mkm-001's) and with the mkm-003's i can only burn 4 or 5 discs in a row before i start getting failures and once they start they keep failing unless i let the burner rest for an hour or so and i have never had to do that before. I'm just trying to see if its the discs or my burner going bad, my new optiarc will be here Monday and i will post if i get anywhere. Thanks again...

Sounds like someone burns games for more than personal use. 4-5 discs in a row but cant wait a few hours before burning more games?

I have a Dell DH-16ABS that I cross-flashed to 524b and only use Memorex DVD's w/ it...haven't gotten a single coaster/bad burn since I've owned it.
