hi ppls,

I'm a newbie and read that the AUD_Clamp method is more stable than standard JTAG, with no errors during boot. However, the 5.1 audio out becomes diasbled with AUD_Clamp.

Are there any other disadvantages to the AUD_Clamp method?

There are different AUD_Clamp wiring, Blackaddrs' (using transistors & resistors) http://img340.imageshack.us/img340/5687/newwiring.jpg and M AzeeM K's (using diodes from nand-x) http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55189

Which wiring should I go for? Are there differences?

Thx in advance

A fast reply from the tutorial author himself!

If you have the Nand-X, then you should go with the Alternate JTAG SMC/Points Tutorial. Otherwise, you can go with Blackaddr's method.
So are there no differences (voltage, reliability) between the two methods?

I have Nand-X, and the M AzeeM K (your) method is easier and more appropriate for a beginner than Blackaddr's right?

To be honest, I made the tutorial as an easier alternative for the default JTAG wiring. And until now, most of the feedback regarding the tutorial has been positive.

Now, since you're currently looking for an easier method, I think it would be better to go with my tutorial since you already have the Nand-X and by using my tutorial, you won't need anything else other than the Nand-X.

Well, I think this is all...If you need anything else, feel free to ask here ;)

I've read your well written tutorial, really newbie friendly. xD

Now, since you're currently looking for an easier method,
Most important to me is reliability. I don't know if Blackaddr's transistors provide better voltage conversion / better longevity to the hardware. If not then I'm going with M AzeeM K's easier method.

About the 2 rebooters: Can newer games be played from XBR (newest XBR does not have the 9199 kernel)?

Is it true that Freeboot is still more stable than XBR?

Dash 7371 is recommended starting point for Freeboot, updating to 7371 blows some efuses (but not the critical ones). What negative effects will blowing these (non-critical) efuses have?

Is it safe to leave efuses unprotected? Doesn't Freeboot come with dash 9199 which usually kills JTAG?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm being careful as I'm a complete newb. Please only answer if you aren't busy :)

Ive used Mak's method and have had no problems atall, Never had a e79 or random issues. No newer games cannnot be played on the XBR rebooter, and freeboot is better but not as stable as XBR. I updated my xenon the other day to 7371 and its caused no problems. Get the 7371 rar from here

No its not safe to keep the efuses unprotected, one mistake and your jtag is toast!!

In my opinion freeboot is a better choice than XBR and regardless of what people say about freeboot it's still more stable than XBR. After all freeboot uses your original NAND image to construct it's files (why do you think you need the CPU key to get it working)!!!

Stick with freeboot, you won't regret it.

Never going to do an official update. Forgetting to remove the $systemUpdate folder before playing a new game is unlikely (unless ur drunk lmao).

What other ways can those efuses be blown? (Even if you are careful ect.)

Right.
When writing the fully prepared Freeboot image back to (Jasper256) NAND, does all of the NAND have to be written to? -Bascially how much space does full Freeboot 0.32 require?

Look at this for protecting your efuses, do this and you wont have to worry about system update folders or accidently connecting to live. Game/dash updates and connecting to live will blow your efuse

http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53292

The entire nand will be written.
