I was curious as to if there is a "good" way to know if a console is fried? I just got a rework station setup and I dont want to waste time trying to fix what simply cant be. I apoligize if this has been covered. I looked and didnt come up with anything. I was also curious if there is a "standard" process to follow while performing a reflow? Everything I have read is different. I realise there will be trial and error. Just looking for guidelines. Example. How long should a reflow take? Once around about 240c how long should you hold that temperature? How fast should I reach that temp? Things like that. I dont expect all the answers. Just someone to kick me in the right direction.

It also states in that post that if the heatsinks are not heating up before then there is no use performing a reflow. Does this usually hold true?
