yeah, so I messed up my flash. I read some tuts and watched some videos about 0x80 returns. It says it should recover even if drive is not detected,I loaded my dummybin and the target fw and hit spoof. I then went to erase liteon but keep getting a return status 0x80 ,device intro failed. So, of course it never recovered so does this mean my drive is toast and I should pick up another drive and start over? or is my x360usb2 faulty? how could you tell which it is?

ok, I loaded my dummybin in source and loaded the ltplus 251 in target and hit spoof source to target then go to liteon erase and hit ok and push on/off knob, once which turns red then again to turn blue and always get the 0x80 status followed by device intro failed message. here is the log though. THANKS FOR THE HELP! THE UNBRICKING VIDEOS I KEEP FINDING JUST DONT WORK FOR ME.

When u hit liteon erase and u have to power cycle the drive which on/off knob are u using as u called it. It sounds to me u are pressing the mode b button instead which is wrong.

oh, you were right. Well, my POWER switch wasn't responding when I flipped it. I pryed open the x360usb2 case and had to kinda pinch the board with my fingers to get the power switch do power off for some reason. must had a glitch or something. so I finally was able to get a 0x72 read then clicked write and got what I was after. had to do it three times though, kept freezing at bank 0. I am sending my jf log to make sure its right. the first time I somehow unded up with a Slim lite drive after flashing. please let me know if it looks good. Its been a lot more stressful than it should have been all because I could power off the drive

Looks good to me a Phat lite on drive shows up as just saying Drive is Lite-On and thats what your log says. So it should be working properly. Only way to know for sure is hook it up to your xbox 360 and test a few retail and backed up/burnt games.

yeah, I turned it on and put in nba2k14 retail and got a open tray error. I greased the spindle and cleaned the laser with rubbing alcohol, still open tray error. the laser comes on red like normal and spindle spins for a second or two so should I get a multimeter and try a pot tweak or reflash back to stock?

well, I tried many different settings with the tweak with the same open tray error so I ordered a new laser that will be here by Friday. Hope that fixes the problem since it worked fine before the flash

did u remove the laser ribbon before writing the firmware. For some reason lite on drives will burn out the laser when writing firmware to it
no, I didn't remove it. I saw some post about it after the fact. i'm really new to this so it never crossed my mind.

It hasn't been proven to burn out anything due to flashing the drive.

op try a pot tweak or a new laser it could just have been a week laser

Ive flashed many liteon drives and have never come across this. I think a lot of the time is user error. Liteon 16d2s drives are the only ones where u have to take the drive casing off to probe the mpx01. So the insides of the drive is exposed, which if not careful u cud easily catch the laser or other components. This is just my opinion as like I said I've probably flashed hundreds of drives without once disconnecting the laser ribbon.

hey, after I flashed my phat liteon I got an open tray message so I tried a pot tweak with no results. Then I ordered a new laser and installed it per youtube video and still am getting an open tray message. I am going to try to include a couple pics of the drive to make sure I got the laser on right and did the solder on the ball good enough. advise would be much appreciated. thanks

iam not saying its your problem, but I brought a laser awhile ago and it did not work because it was faulty. order another from xconsole and it work. not saying you have the same problem. where you brought it from. also what the guys said in previous post that it could be other things too. trouble shoot all your options out.

I just looked on youtube and someone posted a video like mine. (tries to read, spindle spins for about 1-2 seconds then stops). replaced my laser, cleaned everything. anyways, he said his pcb was bad. Is that a possibility? It worked fine before the flash, could I have did something to mess up the board during the flash?

Fist ever time i flashed a liteon drive i killed the laser by not removing the ribbon. Flashed many since with no problems and people will tell you you can't fry the laser but i still always remove the ribbon

yes the PCB can be also faulty. U might have touched the probe in the wrong place or connected up the power cable to the drive upside down. So many variables to be honest. U cud get a replacement drive and flash your key and firmware over to stop all the messing about.
