GENERAL Is It Legal To Flash A Xbox 360?

OK, here goes, from someone that actually has 1st hand experience in these matters.

Its simple. FLASHING the dvd of an Xbox in the UK is ILLEGAL
It matters not 1 IOTA, if it's your own drive, or if you do it as a business * it's worse if you get caught charging for the service*

You are removing the digital ownership of the consoles manufucturer....You own the console, they own the digital signature & copyright.

You are making the console do stuff, that it was'nt intended to do - PLAY BACKUPS !

Yes, before someone flames me, I continue to do this service, I know the risks, i must be :crazy: :eek2:

As oggy said im in the middle of a case, ts raided purely because i was modding drives, ive never sold a game and ts have even said if you modify a drives firmware then its circumventing copyright and its illegal, same goes for jtag.

Out of interest BGAmods, was you flashing drives from a store?

A lot of people who come to me often comment "I used to go to a shop in so and so but they stopped doing it/got shut down", it seems that attention is focussed when it's being offered out of a point of business rather than people who operate on a private basis, at least ime.

Nope, was doing it out if my living room lol. They seized every console in the house including 10 customer consoles, all mine and even my kids. Plus all pcs, laptops and xecuter gear which theyre refusing to give back.

I now have 2 consoles at home and both are stock. Would i risk it again? No chance.

I must admit the ts "so called" expert is sh*te, couldnt even dump the fw off my slims pfft

not really mate, i knew it was illegal and still offered the service so ive only got myself to blame. they can keep the stuff its all been replaced 10 times over already lol.

doesnt help when they find a jf keydb with 600 keys and 45 freeboot images for different consoles lol. best part is i kept everything on an external that i was gonna microwave if they ever came but lazy old me was still in bed and the misses answered the door lol.

Interesting, hence why I rarely operate from home.

Regardless of how many keys you may have on your database, can you not argue that they are for drive replacement i.e just flashing keys over and not CFW - how could they prove it was anything otherwise?

So I take it they didn't foot the door off at 6am?

What's the repercussions you are looking at? Or are you not allowed/don't want to discuss it?

im happy to discuss it on here as long as the mods/xecuter has no issues with it.

they came at 8.30am and there was a fair few of them, misses opened door before i could get the hdd to the microwave lol, best part is id only built the pc the week before and there was nothing on it except 6 imgburn logs for an xgd3 game that kept dropping (aone discs), they tried to pin that in interview and i said if you want me to show you how to drop discs in court then ill happily stand there with my pc and show the court and their face dropped, i must stress i have NEVER sold a game and would never.

the freeboot files have me busted as theres not really an excuse for them as they were in a folder called customer jtag files :facepalm:

their expert is a moron who took 3 weeks and still couldnt dump my slim fw and couldnt unlock a bricked benq :facepalm:

ive told them ill take a guilty on the jtags and 2 flashes as they also found 2 jf logs, worst part is all 10 customer consoles were modified, not by me as they were reballs id done.

theyve also told me i wont get my tx products back including my sample ck3 cp( thanks xecuter, i loved it), not too bothered about them but its a shame to lose them.

they didnt know what to take and what not to take,

example: they took flux paste as evidence :facepalm:

if the mods arent happy with me telling my story in this thread let me know and delete my posts.

I think it's relevant to a lot of us as many of us do offer these services to I think it's useful for people to know this information and help people decide if it's something they want to do or a risk they are willing to take, so I hope the mods consider this if they are in two minds about the thread content.

So you had stopped modding a few months prior and yet they still had you twigged? It would suggest they'd been collecting info on you for some time, think I might take the advice on the external hdd, I do use a laptop so could throw it out the window if needs be haha.

I presume they had a warrant to enter the premises?

Thnig is, a JF keydb alone wouldn't be enough, what with setkey commands. Few JF logs and JTAG .bin's and they just try to cast everything under the same offence. Innocent or not.

ive already exposed their expert as a noob and TS were laughing and actually agreed with me but theres no way im gonna let them pin everything, i told them fine me and lets be done or ill drag it through court and represent myself and have some 4 hour demos exposing their expert as a nobody.

im sure all will be well oggy mate, ive been through a lot worse and im still laughing so this doesnt bother me, its other things about being raided that have done my head in more.
