Nope, was doing it out if my living room lol. They seized every console in the house including 10 customer consoles, all mine and even my kids. Plus all pcs, laptops and xecuter gear which theyre refusing to give back.

I now have 2 consoles at home and both are stock. Would i risk it again? No chance.

I must admit the ts "so called" expert is sh*te, couldnt even dump the fw off my slims pfft

Wow dude, that is really harsh, are they refusing to give back stuff that was not modified or used for flashing also?

If you have to ask don't do it, stay away from modding.
I wanted to get in the buisness of doing it,not for personal use(even though I have already flashed my two xboxes). I was wondering if it was illegal to do as a buisness or for ones personal self,I thought I made that clear:rolleyes2:

depends on the country. For example in my country xbox is not officially sold so who cares about it.
By the way there was a case in the US about a modder being chased by the officials in disguise they asked the modder if he would mod their console and they also recorded this process in the video.
EDIT:Found the article

It depends heavily on the country. For instace, in Poland it is illegal to mod a console, however owning such console is legal.
Also, if you're in US it helps if you only flash the drive and not test it using backups, as the story told. At least that's what they wanted to pin on the guy, so it must be important.

I was watching the case closely at that time
yeah they were trying to prove that he was modding these consoles in purpose of running pirated copies of them. But they couldnt prove him do that, and the modder told the judge that he just modded the console so that the end user can use it to play his OWN backups only ,not someone elses or downloaded copies from the internet, also he didnt tell them how to get the pirated version of the game.So the case closed.Judge decided that the modder didnt condone piracy he only modded the console to enable the end user to play his own home made backup discs. In modding process he also didnt do a move that involved copyright infringement, like using pirated software or anything (that was another side to the case)

It's a very grey area in the UK, Trading standards are a funny bunch - around here they only go after modders / pirates, when there's no car boots to raid...

That said they seem to only be going after those with websites, that seem to be making a business out of it.

To those who are paranoid about being busted, keep all your files on a micro usb flashdrive - easy to hide. flush your registry every month to lose your JF key vault.

Then with nothing but a few drivers and a box of modding kit there's very little they will be able to pin on you.

I've had that 6am knock on the door before, so i wised up a long time ago.

In my country, they don't care much about modding consoles, but piracy is prohibited. Raids are being conducted from time to time, but small time retailers of pirated CDs/DVDs can just get away with it, authorities just confiscate their stuffs and padlock their stalls. However, manufacturers/capitalists (those having equipments/replicating machines for backing up CD/DVDs) would have to face Anti-piracy charges in court. There is no law prohibiting any one to mode whatever gadgets he has, however, to make any raid legal, a representative from M$ or from any other company must file a formal complaint and be actually present during the raid to become legitimate. In my memory, no one has been convicted, or just charged for modding/tampering whatever gadgets he own.

How am I condoning it? I don't buy games from him, I just past on flashing to him. Its the customers choice if they deal with him or not, not mine
the text you wrote what he put on FB, i didnt read that bit, im not saying you do i am just saying that i read your post wrong and so could many others.

The Mathew Crippen case was a testament to the flawed persecution of modders. He got off because of conflicting evidence, and botched sting operations. I wouldn't worry about it too much, I've been posting on CL for a while. Sure the flagging gets annoying, but it's not constant. Happy modding!
