is it possible to erase bach up bios?

i just got my install done and all joints looked great.fired it up and it went to stock ms dash and x3 bios loader screen no problem.
this i were it all went wrong.i tried flashing via http to bios version 3029v1.6plus and it seemed to go in correctly except the box didn't shut down automaticly and before i seen a full green bar on screen the screen went blank.so i tried rebooting and nothing.i finaly got it to boot on backup and tried acouple more times with the same results.and now finaly i cant even get it to boot to back-up.i either get a flashing green to red indicator or flashing orange and it will not power down i have to unplug.
is it possible i took out my back up bios?
i never really played with switches other than on,on,off,off,off so im at a lose on whats happening.
btw i have a version v1.6 with a x3 ce chip with rebuild installed.
any help appreciated.

If you have the pro switch your order should be this(off on on off off) and flash with 3108 v16

no just the stock switch and i've tried booting to other banks.

Soldering - everything's pointing to your soldering.

If this is the first time you've attempted something like this, then go over everything carefully.

could be.by no means am i a pro but i've dabbled in soldering projects for some 20 odd years.not saying this makes me a great solderer but i take all the right steps and use the correct equipment.
plus before i started flashing it was acting completely normal.both my hd and lan leds worked correctly(before flash attempt,now only hd comes on.),both 3.3v and 5v and flash protect leds are lite correctly and i could boot to either ms stock or x3 screen.also i did get the bios(either correctly or uncorrectly) to go thru the flash process acouple times via fttp.and i did have the dip switches set correctly,ck'd them several times.but towards the end of the night i was getting frustrated and tried a few different things suggested on a irc channel and the next thing i knew is i couldn't get it to boot.so i think i messed up the xbox bios and somehow also took out the back up bios.if thats possible.
anyhow thanks for the advice and any other suggestions are greatly appreciated.

You cannot erase the backup BIOS unless you get into X3CL and FRAG it from there. Try booting with Power + Eject pressed quickly.

Mine will not boot the backup either, I ordered a pre mod so I hope it is not a soldering issue. I get the purple x but if still frags like every other bank I try.

I had the xbox running with the x3 3108 bios then I reboot it and now I can't get it to boot with the chip enabled

Check your switch settings

Either on on off off, or off on off off should work.

i really think i took the backup out.
do you really think it could be the solder job if it was reacting correctly as i stated.

You CANNOT modify the backup BIOS unless you go into X3 Config Live.

i quickly get the purple x then it turns off and on about 2 to 3 times then finally it either hard locks with a flashing orange light or the blue x comes on with a flashing red to green light.

yea i looked up all the different banks and tried a few but everything does the same thing.

well i dont 100% understand your question but it was reacting correctly untill i did acouple flashes that didnt work.i did get it started with the backup acouple times but after that it seems something went really wrong.




whats the most common soldering mistakes with the x3?
cause what i see i have the do,3.3v,5v right.

also how do you get to x3 config live?
if thats the main flash screen.if so yes i was there acouple times.

My backup is not there and I did nothing to it. It's just not there. So what could the problem be on a pre modded machine I followed the flash directions perfect. Right bios but now I can't get into anything. I wonder If i could trade my chip in.

If it said FlashBIOS, then it's FlashBIOS.

If it said X3 Config Live, then it's X3 Config Live. you can only get to X3 Config Live AFTER you've successfully flashed and booted to an X3 BIOS.

The problem here is you haven't a clue what you're doing. It WAS booting FlashBIOS until you managed to screw it up. I'm not sure what state it's in and definitely don't think the chip is faulty.

You will need them to look at it - in the meantime, you need to educate yourself. Read the X3 n00b guides.

i know i screwed it up i wasn't insinuating otherwise.i also know i dont have a clue what happened hence me being here asking for advice.but i do have a clue on what i was doing to that point so thanks for asking.
most the noob guides out there are crap as i've been reading them for a solid 2 weeks.they seem to be more written for an experienced user than a noob such as i.i followed the guides to a T that is why im so confused on what happened.
thanks for explaining to me that it was impossible for me to wipe backup out ,since i never got a clean bios install in ,that was what i was asking since the first thread. i will take mb out again and retest connections.

There's a link in my sig for an X3 n00b guides. They're certainly not written for the experienced user. They do assume however that you know what the following are:

chip
BIOS
bank
Nero
ISO

If these mean nothing to you, then don't even bother trying to mod it!!!

hehe yea i've read them a few times.as i stated i was pretty comfortable with what i was doing till the point it went wrong.i've been into modding for a long time just not the xbox.probably longer than alot of your members could hold a mouse.lol
im a pc man.
and yes those terms are very basic to me.i just dont know about xbox things.like the config live you spoke about.
