Information about configlive is pasted all over this forum!!

Unless you've successfully flashed your chip with an X3 BIOS, you will not have access to it. This is why I think there's something else wrong since your backup BIOS shouldn't frag. Are you 100% sure you didn't try to mess with the chip after you initially screwed up?

as stated i never got a succesfull flash.as for messing with the chip physically no.but i was stupid enough to try acouple dip switch settings suggested to me that night on a irc chat i frequent.but if what you say is true i couldn't of wiped my backup out so im certain i must have a solder joint failing.i have the fluke out now so im going to do some testing.
from your experience does it sound like a certain connection that i have wrong?

It's definitely a connection issue, but where to look first is the toughest.

Check all soldered points except the LAN and HDD - that's the best advice I can give you. A FRAG is caused when the BIOS cannot load, which is exactly what you have.

Incidentally, does the Xbox boot if you disable the chip?

I had a pre mod and mine is doing the same thing. Mine will boot disabled but nothing else. It worked untill I flashed x3 bios on with on on off off off and it even rebooted to the x rox my box, but after I rebooted again, I get the frag

woohoo

xecuter rox my box. :D :D :D :D

well went over and over all my connections with my fluke and my lighted magnifing glass and couldn't find a thing wrong.my solder points actauly look better than those in the tutorial.
well apparently looks aren't everything.i finally decided to try to get it to boot with mb out of case and dvd and hd left disconnected.well i noticed i could get it to boot to back-up with alittle pressure around the rebuild.so i tried flashing holding pressure to that point.well it finally accepted the flash.
well since i've went over my solder points again and am pretty sure everythings right but it still wont flash unless i put pressure on the rebuild.the good news is seems to be functioning correctly with the 2914 bios i installed earlier.i think i'll just leave that bios in untill i get this all figured out.
i do have a question though, can i install another bios in the 1mb bank #2 then just switch between bios with the switch?

thanks again for the help and im sure we'll be chating again. lol
with alittle help hopefully i'll go from noob to rookie. ;)

It's definitely still a solder issue by the looks of things!

If you're sure that you have a working BIOS, then you can put whatever you want on the remainder of the chip. FlashBIOS is just there to get you started. You should be able to either boot the backup BIOS or your X3 in order to reflash at any time.

yep yep ,solder or a broken trace on the rebuild pcb.either way i'll get it now i know were the problem lies.

i still haven't found the answer to wether or not the x3 boots to the bios set up on switch or if it defaults to 1,2,3,4 bank.i'll keep searching though.all part of the learning curve.i do find that reading is great but your real learning begins with the hands on.and if thats the case i should be learning quickly with all the little problems i've been causing myself. lol

well it sounds as if yours was doing the same thing as mine.the only thing is i dont know if id mess with it unless it doesn't have any kind of warranty.
