Is it possible to give your system 3 red lights of death?

Has anyone tried this? I have error code 74 (1 flashing red light) showing up on my console and I know it is not the fault of the video cable, because it works fine in my other console. I had a nice chat with a rep at M$ and he said it would cost $100 to have fixed... Well, my thinking is the new 3 year warranty only covers the 3 red lights of death. Is it possible to give my console the 3 red lights of death and have M$ then fix it for free? Anyone have any ideas? :?:

That's strange they shouldn't even be charging to fix it.. But if that's the case with 3 lights.. just stick it into a enclosed area and run it till it overheats and then the 3 red lights will come ;-)

The question is though if I do that will the system then show the 3 Red lights of death or the still just the single?

E74: There is a 90% chance it's a scaler chip problem (the "ANA" or "HANA" chip near the AV cable connection) it can also be caused by a faulty AV cable so check that first. In rare cases it is a problem with the GPU.

I don't see why the heck M$ isn't repairing this under warranty as well... Well I don't know if doing what I said will revert it to a 3 lights error... It may or may not... Who knows...

i'd do what blob says... also add one of those bastard fans to the back of it.... just don't let it burn your box. MS is really letting us all down. i usually don't dog them but with the 360 error ratio and vista..... nuff said.

If you want to know how to give your box the 3 rings of death try this. I never had the three rings until i started playing with the plastic shield that covered the fans for the cooling system, after that they started rings a bit on and off for a while. I was curious how it all worked and i took off the plastic shield and just looked to see what is was covering and put it back on and went to plug up my xbox and sure enough it gave me the red lights....you might want to check out that method of how not to void your warranty before cracking open your shell though.
