Hi guys,

Before i start i would like to inform you that im Very Very new to all this.

Well after some research i have found that i have a Liteon DG-16D4S 0401 (Slim). And thus i followed this guide: http://www.teamxecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67780

3 items which ill need are:

Xecuter X360USB Pro: http://mrmodchips.co.uk/catalog/xecuter-x360usb-p-824.html

CK3 Pro: http://mrmodchips.co.uk/catalog/team-xecuter-ck3i-p-840.html

Xecuter DG-16D4S Unlocked PCB : http://www.modsupplier.com/catalog/xecuter-liteon-dg16d4s-unlocked-pcb-p-985.html

That comes to a total off 36+25+45=106

So is it possible to buy a flashed dvd drive? And if yes, then isn't it cheaper to that?

http://www.ioffer.com/si/flashed+slim+xbox+360

Thanks

Get an X360USB Pro v2 - it combines the USB Pro and CK3i.

You can also get the unlocked PCB if you don't feel confident with unlocking your own - I assume you have already read about and understood this.

OK well if i want to do it myself, can someone link me to the equipment which i need (as someone stated on 2 of those items can be found in one product) for the cheapest price within the uk. Im trying to look around myself, but the prices are going to about 90-100.

Everything you need can be purchased from CK3.co.uk.

In my opinion, buying the equipment now is cheaper in the long run because you can keep your expensive original game discs safe :).

I honestly do everything with home made equipment. I recently flashed mine and my friends slim, while i did drill mine a little to deep it's nothing major. It was alot cheaper then buying the tools, sending it in, or buying an already flashed xbox.

it is worth it to buy the kit and learn to do it yourself instead of having to pay someone every time you need to update, etc
that depends really how many times the OP is going to have to update the firmware..

OP: work out if you got a mxic or winbound PCB and im sure someone will tell you what kit you need if you want to do it yourself, thou it only takes a bit of reading.. but you can prob get a exchange PCB on here including flashing for less than £35.00 plus postage.. the 360 is near ending its life and i cant see there being many more firmware updates

"It was alot cheaper then buying the tools" The tools are coming to a cost of £100 which is nearly the price of a xbox itself...

Its a winbound pcb. and i didn't really understand what u meant by getting a exchange pcb, can you elaborate more on that please.

I really do want to do it myself, but there's no way im spending £100 pound on the equipment which i will only use once.

Is there any other cost effective "do it yourself" method? And as mentioned before if you know any websites selling the equipment at a cheap price then please post the link

Thanks

About the tools costing a lot, yeah they do, but you can always offer a local service and make that money back fairly quickly. I definitely say mine was a worthy investment.

It's the cost of 3 retail games. I think game disc replacements will set you back £12 each so once you've backed up your games (assuming you have more than 10) you've covered your cost. Either that or look after your games and you won't have to flash anything. It's really your choice.

That IS the DIY method. There are many examples of 'DIY' costing you more than paying for a service, especially when you have an initial outlay to cover. Likewise, when you DIY you are no guarantee and no comeback if/when you screw up.

I would strongly suggest finding someone to do this for you this time around.

If it's a Winbond pcb, you'll also need a rotary cutting tool (e.g., Dremel), an appropriate cutting bit, and skills to drill into the Winbond chip until you contact the appropriate wire bond connecting the IC die to the IC package (aka Kamikaze unlock). If you damage the PCB during Kamikaze, you can buy a replacement/exchange PCB for the drive. Or just skip Kamikaze, get the replacement/exchange PCB, and go from there.

A lot of members have had success using a scalpel and rotating it on the spot/point instead of a rotary cutter to bore into the chip.

Much cheaper and gives better control over hole depth due to the vastly reduced speed.

Might as well try before buying the unlock pcb.

Follow the above guide by our very own RDUBBS - all credit to him

I use a extremely sharp stanley knife point. Doing a quarter turn with minimum pressure. until i hear the beep. Take all the time you need.

Also ensure you get your Dummy.bin and all relative files saved and put into many different places before proceeding, because you will need them if you mess up

Doing it your self is worth it to me. I know how to solder and I have read up on this stuff for the last few months so yes to me its worth it.
