is my ms25 drive dead?

My MS25 recently started acting up and would give the open tray error on games it previously played flawlessly. Now it has completely quit reading backups and originals(goes the white screen). it seem to play dvd movies just fine. I tried the Xtreme 5.2d firmware and it made no difference and i have now put the original stock firmware back on the drive. It won't read original games or dvds. Is there anything I can do to salvage the drive like replace the laser or would I be better off just buying a new drive off ebay?

I also tried the rubberband mod that didnt work for me. My backups are burned on verbatim dvd+r dl(2x) and clonecd with the pioneer burner.

Any kind of help would help. Thanks

Sounds like your laser has gone to laser heaven.
afaik you can put a new laser in a samsung or you can buy a new drive even if you get an hitachi you can spoof it as a ms-25
